LOCAL EMERGENCY PLANNING COMMITTEE HOLDS OPEN HOUSE

WHEN: October 15th, 2026, at 1230 pm.

WHERE: Waldo County EMA, 685 Swan Lake Avenue, Swanville, ME

The Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will hold an open house at the Waldo County Emergency Management Agency, on Thursday, October 15th at 12:30 pm. The open house allows the public to view facility response plans, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and the Maine chemical reporting forms that have been submitted under federal and state laws.

That was quite a thunderstorm this afternoon. We had 35 road locations in Waldo County that were impacted by tree and electric powerline debris and damage. Most are now open to traffic; a few are still one lane. We had over 8,000 customers without power at the height.

The Waldo County Amateur Radio Association and Waldo County Emergency Management Agency held a very successful Ham Radio Field Day on Saturday and Sunday, June 27 & 28. We utilized three stations - a voice station, a digital station and a CW (Morse Code) station. We used two mobile towers (one from Kennebec EMA - thank you!) We had over 30 participants and guests. Thank you to all the Hams who helped!
