BELFAST -- Some members of the Waldo County community came together Tuesday for a vote on the RSU 71 budget.

Our hearts are with those affected by the fire at Robbins Lumber yesterday. We praise the brave men and women who ran towards danger in an effort to put out the fire.

We offer condolences to the family, friends, fire department and community of the fallen firefighter.

Our thoughts are with those that were injured and their families as they receive care.

Today, and always, the people of Swanville are Searsmont and Waldo County Strong!

There will be a Public Meeting on Wednesday May 20th @ 6:00 PM in the upstairs meeting room at the Town Office.

The topic will be the 2026 Waldo County Hazard Mitigation Plan.

RSU #71 will be holding two listening session on the closure that is being discussed of the Nickerson School.

Tuesday April 14th and Wednesday April 29th. Both will be held at the Nickerson School and virtually beginning at 5:30 PM.
