Update on the Wilkins and Monclova roundabout.

🚧MONCLOVA/WILKINS
Week 1 saw the intersection milled down to the base. Signage was removed and Vernon Nagel, Inc. began on drainage improvements to the intersection.

With this being in a remote part of the county, the impacts to most riders is minimal, however, if you are visiting Oak Openings, please plan ahead. We encourage using the SR 295 entrance to the park or Reed Road to the east and SR 64 to the west. If you use Reed Road, please slow down and be respectful of residents and non-vehicle users like pedestrians and cyclists.

Swanton Township Launches Official Text Alert Notifications

Swanton Township is pleased to announce the implementation of a new text alert notification system designed to provide residents with timely and accurate information. Subscribers will receive updates regarding Township meeting schedules, road closures, service interruptions, and other official notices directly to their mobile devices.

This initiative represents another level of transparency and public accessibility, building upon the numerous improvements and communication enhancements implemented since January 2026. Our goal remains to ensure residents have clear, reliable, and immediate access to Township information.

The existing two-way stop intersection will be converted into a single-lane roundabout to improve safety and traffic flow.

The intersection will be closed to through traffic during construction. Please follow posted detour signs to keep our workers safe.

Today, we celebrate 250 years of our nation’s history, a milestone that reminds us of the enduring values of freedom, service, and community.

Here in Swanton Township, we are proud to be part of that story. From the generations who came before us to the residents, businesses, farmers, first responders, veterans, volunteers, and township employees who serve our community today, each has helped shape the place we call home.

As we celebrate Independence Day, we also reflect on the responsibility we all share to preserve and strengthen our community for future generations.

Domain & Email Transition Completed

Swanton Township has officially transitioned from our former .org domain to our new, more secure .gov domain. This change began with the launch of our updated township website and is now fully completed with the rollout of our new email addresses.

This transition was completed at no cost to the Township and provides enhanced security, modern standards, and improved reliability. We’re committed to keeping pace with current best practices and strengthening the integrity of our digital communications.

ARCHBOLD WHITEHOUSE/PNS ROUNDABOUT
The fourth of our five roundabouts this season will be coming to Archbold Whitehouse Road and Providence Neapolis Road this summer. We were awarded a safety grant back in 2021 for this project after the five-year period from 2016-2020 saw 11 total crashes, six of them causing injury, including one serious injury. Over 70% of the crashes were angle or left-turn crash types.

Because of the delays concerning utility relocations at Monclova and Albon Road, all other roundabout projects have been delayed as well, but we tentatively expect to start construction sometime in late July or early August. We will announce that start date and road closure details as soon as it's set in stone.
