🚒 Professionalism. Preparedness. Progress. 🚑

The Village of Swanton Fire & EMS Division continues to set a high standard for emergency services through its commitment to training, professionalism, and community safety.

Over the past year, the department has achieved several significant milestones, including:

✅ Improved the Village's ISO rating from 5/5Y to 4/4Y, reflecting enhanced fire protection capabilities.

✅ Earned Lexipol recognition for excellence in training, validating the department's commitment to professional development.

✅ Completed more than 2,000 hours of training, with personnel earning advanced fire and EMS certifications.

✅ Maintained a full roster of 34 highly qualified members while achieving exceptional retention.

✅ Sustained strong operational readiness with an average daily staffing level of 4.8 personnel and maximum staffing levels over 80% of the time.

✅ Successfully completed a multi-year emergency management exercise with a near-perfect score and obtained licensure through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.

✅ Conducted fire safety inspections at 142 of 154 commercial occupancies, achieving a 92% completion rate and helping reduce community risk.

These accomplishments reflect the dedication of the men and women of Swanton Fire & EMS and demonstrate the value of continued investment in training, equipment, and personnel.

📢 Community Update: Traffic Noise Concerns on Valleywoods Drive Area and the Tree Streets
I’ve recently been approached by residents on Hickory Street regarding the excessive noise from turnpike traffic. In response, I’ve been working with neighbors to draft a petition to the Turnpike Commission requesting relief through the installation of noise barriers.
📝 What’s next?
The petition will soon be circulating throughout the Valleywoods Drive area and the tree streets. We’ll be asking for your support and signatures to help make our voices heard.

TRAFIC SIGNAL UPDATE
There are new traffic signals with Left Turn Arrows.
They are up and functioning.
This should help reduce congestion and frustration when turning left when eastbound on Airport.
Westbound traffic will have a slight delay as eastbound traffic has a chance to turn north.

Salary for this position will range from $62,000 to $67,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

A couple of chemicals were mixed in error in the chemistry lab.
No injuries, everyone is OK.
