This event highlights the need and value of mutual aid in our area and smaller communities. Thank you to our first responders who were part of the team that assisted Bristol Fire Department-RI in this structure fire last night.

It took two hours for firefighters to knock down the bulk of what the chief described as being "a pretty stubborn fire."

The Friends of Swansea Volunteer FD are back at it, preparing for the signature event to our department's 100th anniversary celebration. This three-day, family event will happen July 10-12 at Veterans Park. Check out all the great entertainment planned for that weekend. Congratulations Camden Huck on your completion of training and graduation from the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services Call/Volunteer course of instruction at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy-Bridgewater last night. After 240 hours of academic demands and physical challenges, he will now join Company 1 as a fully-qualified firefighter.

We are truly blessed to have such a strong group of volunteers in our department. Not only are they giving of themselves and their time when the tones go off in response to an emergency, but also when it comes to honoring the members of the fire service here in the Town of Swansea, Massachusetts. Last night our 100th Anniversary Committee put on an amazing event to celebrate a century of history and service by our department. It was truly a blessing to have many past and present members in attendance along with so many of our local town, state, and federal officials to be part of this celebration. Our team continues to raise the bar of service and success. Thank you to our Friends of Swansea Volunteer FD team for all you are doing to make our 100th Anniversary year so special.
