Greetings and Grand Rising Great Citizens,

It is another day of Mental Health Awareness and I would like for us take a moment to reflect on the difference between ego and self-esteem. While ego often refers to our self-importance and can lead to defensiveness and arrogance, self-esteem is about recognizing our value and worth in a balanced way. Understanding this distinction can help us foster healthier relationships with ourselves and others, promoting a supportive community where everyone feels valued. Honestly reflect on the following: Do you always have to be the most impressive in the room; not knowing when you are talking to make you feel important? Today may we deflate our ego and inflate our self esteem!!! Ego makes us important to only ourselves however having self-esteem allows us to truly be important to our community!

Best Regards,

Faithful Servant

Greetings Great Citizens,

Another day of mental health awareness. It is middle of the week!!! Which often feels like you don’t feel like making it through keeping on with work. I would like to encourage you with the following quote: “You make a living on what you earn;however you make a life on who you serve.”

“Take care of yourself as well as yourself.”

Good Morning Great Citizens,

It is another day of Mental Health Awareness Month… I have not posted in seven days… almost as reminder to myself and as an example it is ok and honestly quite healthy to tap out of social media from time to time and to physically tap in with someone else or even yourself!!!
“Let’s take care of ourselves and each other!”

Greetings Great Citizens,

Today is day 5 of Mental Health Awareness Month
As you know, we officially proclaimed May as Mental Health Awareness Month during our Village meeting, and our partnership with NAMI Southwestern Illinois continues to grow stronger as we work to raise awareness and provide valuable resources to support mental health in our community.

Today, I encourage you to focus on the practice of mindfulness. Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present and engaged in the moment, aware of your thoughts and feelings without judgment. It helps us connect with ourselves and our surroundings, fostering a greater sense of peace and well-being. Taking just a few minutes each day to practice mindfulness can have a profound impact on your mental health.

Personally, I find that waking up earlier than everyone else in my home allows me to embrace mindfulness without distractions. In those quiet moments, I take a deep breath and appreciate the gift of a new day. I remind myself that I am “fearfully and wonderfully made,” reflecting on how many people did not get that chance today. I focus on what I see and the life I want to create, and then I spend time in deep meditation. This practice helps me center myself and set positive intentions for the day ahead.

May we please please please remember the power of connection. Reach out to someone and check in; a small act of kindness can make a world of difference.

I encourage you to share your thoughts on mindfulness and any self-care practices that work for you. Together, we can uplift one another and create a compassionate community in the Village.

Thank you for your continued support of mental health awareness. Together, we can make a positive impact in the Village of Swansea!

“Take care of yourselves and each other!”

Good Evening Great Citizens,
Today is day 4 of Mental Health Awareness Month!!! As we journey through Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your enthusiasm and engagement surrounding this important topic. It brings joy to see our community coming together to explore mental well-being!

I have exciting news to share! Tonight, at our Village meeting, we will be making a proclamation declaring May as Mental Health Awareness Month. I am particularly thrilled to announce our partnership with NAMI Southwestern Illinois, as we collaborate to raise awareness and provide resources to support mental health in our community.

As we reflect on who we are, I encourage each of you to consider taking just five minutes each day for self-reflection. This could be through journaling or simply sharing your thoughts with a trusted friend. How do your emotions shape your interactions with those around you? Understanding ourselves better not only nurtures our own well-being but also strengthens our connections with others.

In the spirit of this month, let us make a conscious effort to practice mindfulness. A few moments of deep breathing or expressing gratitude can go a long way in helping us stay grounded in our hectic lives. May we not forget the power of connection! Reach out to a friend, neighbor, or even someone you haven't spoken to in a while. Sometimes, a kind word or a listening ear can brighten someone's day more than we realize.

I invite you all to share your experiences, thoughts, and strategies throughout this month. Your voice is crucial, and by sharing, we can uplift one another and foster a more compassionate community in the Village of Swansea for THE VILLAGE OF SWANSEA!!!!!
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to mental health awareness. Together, let’s create a culture of understanding, compassion, and proactive support.

“Take care of yourselves and each other!”
