Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who answered the call to help.

We honor the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the spirit of compassion and unity that brought people together in the days that followed.

This shows just how relatively new this country is, and how much history happened on this land well before our government existed.

Hyde County Farm Day will be held on November 7 this year. The America 250 Hyde County NC committee is gathering items that highlight the agricultural history of the county. Like/follow/share: The Octagon House - one of Hyde County's Historic treasures!

And with all of the special celebrations this Fourth of July weekend, it is noteworthy to mention that Dr. William Sparrow (1826-1862) would be 200 years old this year. His vision of the Octagon House left an architectural treasure for Hyde County.
