Our office will be closed on Friday, April 3rd, 2026, in observance of Good Friday. We will reopen on Monday, April 6th, at 8:00 am.

This closure also pertains to other Emanuel County government offices and the Emanuel County Courthouse.

The Emanuel County Board of Commissioners has set the holiday schedule for 2026 for all county offices. The Clerk’s Office will follow this schedule as provided by law. The Clerk’s Office will be closed as shown below.

The Emanuel County Board of Equalization is looking for local citizens to serve on the Board of Equalization—- the board responsible for hearing property tax appeals.

The Board is under the administration of the Emanuel County Clerk’s Office. This board is not the Board of Assessors, nor the Board of Commissioners, nor the Board of Education. This is an independent board comprised of local property owners who hear appeals from fellow citizens regarding property assessments. This board does not set tax rates, but it does set values on properties brought before them, which is then returned for the assessment of taxes.

Board members must be property owners and attend annual trainings. Board members are compensated for their work. The Board is currently looking to fill two vacant seats.

If you want to be involved in local government and truly understand how property taxes and values work, we would love for you to apply! The official notice will be in the Forest Blade and the January Grand Jury will appoint new members from those who apply. Please let me know if you’re interested!

Our offices will be closed today in observance of Columbus Day.

The Clerks Office and other local government offices will be closed July 4th and July 5th in observance of Independence Day! We will reopen on Monday, July 8th, at 8:00 a.m.

We will have trials beginning on Monday, July 8th. If you were summoned for jury duty, please report at 8:30 a.m. as directed.
