Award-winning Suwanee is a friendly, progressive community committed to maintaining a high-quality of life for its approximately 19,000 residents. And we're delighted to have been recognized by Money Magazine as one of the country's best small communities in which to live and by Kiplinger.com as one of the best communities in which to raise children. Most of all, though, we're gratified that our residents and business owners are proud to call Suwanee "home."

We’re thrilled to announce author Katy Marshall as the Grand Marshal of this year’s Suwanee Fest Parade!

Katy is a local children's book author who inspires young readers to dream boldly and embrace their imaginations. Her passion for storytelling makes her the perfect fit for this year’s Once Upon a Suwanee Fest theme.

Join us in celebrating Katy and come cheer her on as she leads the Suwanee Fest Parade this Saturday, September 19!

Our world can be reshaped in a single day. September 11, 2001, was such a day. Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, the lives forever changed, and the many acts of courage and compassion that followed.

In Suwanee’s Remembrance Plaza, a memorial stands as a place for quiet reflection. The display includes a stainless-steel sculpture depicting an aerial view of Lower Manhattan, a timeline of the day’s events, and a 1,628-pound section of steel recovered from the World Trade Center. The artifact was part of an exterior panel used on floors 101-104 of one of the towers and was given to the City of Suwanee by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in 2011.

The sculpture and timeline that accompanies the artifact were created by Georgia artist Marc Moulton. Together with the artifact, these pieces make up Remembrance Plaza, an area of the park dedicated by the City of Suwanee on September 11, 2013, that has since served as a place to reflect and honor those affected by the 2001 attacks.

Every five years, the City of Suwanee holds a quiet ceremony at Remembrance Plaza to honor those whose lives were lost and forever changed by the attacks of September 11. Today, on the 25th anniversary, we invite the community to join us at 6PM at Remembrance Plaza in the top corner of Town Center Park for a time of remembrance and reflection.
