The Darling Barn on the property will be the location for a sewing night from (6pm-9pm) on Friday night June 3rd. This will give those who need to mend some clothing a chance to do so or to ask advice of those that are more seasoned at sewing.

The Darling Barn will also be the location for lectures and possibly some demonstrations throughout the weekend.

Once all events have been confirmed, we'll post those here in this page.

There are chairs inside the barn to sit and listen to a talk or two on 18th Century life.

I've reached out to many Sutlers that attend the many encampments here in New England. If you know of a Sutler that may be interested in attending, please let me know and I can send them an invite.

There will be a blanket sale on Saturday for anyone that would like to sell off some of their wares that either no longer fit them or use.

For those of you that make clothing or accoutrements in your spare time and would like to attend the event and sell your goods not just at the blanket sale, please let me know. We can accommodate you. It's a great way for you to meet new customers besides word of mouth.

Thank you,

Layout of the field for the event.
Both camps on the same field. Sutlers between both camps as long as the field there is dry in that spot. If it is too wet at that spot, Sutlers will be closer to the house. Battlefield will be near the woods.

The American forces and their Allies must belong to either the Continental Line or BAR. The Crown forces and their Allies will be invited by the 10th Regiment of Foot.

No walk-ons. Please register even if you are the only one attending from your unit. It makes it easier for registration purposes.

Thank you,

Battle at Waters Farm

Host Units: 13th Continental Regiment, 3rd Mass., and 10th Regiment of Foot

When: June 4-5, 2022

Where: Waters Farm, 53 Waters Rd., Sutton, MA 01590

Amenities: Water, Hay/Straw, Wood, Port-a-johns, Ice (Paid for by the 13th), Camp Kitchen

Waters Farm sits on 120 acres, is on a dead end road, and overlooks Manchaug Pond which looks like a lake. The farm is off Route 146 which is easily attainable from the Massachusetts Turnpike. From the exit off of Route 146, the farm is about 15 minutes away.

The campsite is flat where we will be camping. There is a slope towards the side of the field near the parking. Parking for reenactors will be within a quick walking distance.

A house built in 1757 is on the premises and will be open for tours. There is a peddler shop at the back of the house that will be open as well. On the site is a Blacksmith shop, Sugar Shack, Shingle Shack, and Barn.

This event will not be a specific battle or time period during the Revolution. This will give units the chance to wear uniforms if they have them. Mounted troops are welcome.

Setup is anytime on Friday. If you would like to setup as early as Thursday, please let me know. It should be no problem since we will be on site setting up the lines and our equipment.

Hours of the event are (9-6) Saturday, (9-2) Sunday. We want to allow those that have travelled a distance to get a decent start on their journey back.

A camp kitchen will be dug and available for use for any unit that would like to use it. If this will be your only source for cooking, please let us know that way when camp is setup, you can be a short distance away from the kitchen.

The camp kitchen will also be used for a “Camp Kitchen Cook-off” that will be planned for Saturday. This cooking competition will pit Crown and their allies vs. American and their allies. More details to come. At the Military Muster event held at Waters Farm in 2020, a “Camp Kitchen Cook-off” was held and 5 different units participated. Ingredients were handed out the night before so units could prep and were given an allotted time to cook using the camp kitchen on Saturday. Meals were judged by 3 judges and an award was handed out at the end of the competition. It was a great place to gather and watch and talk with the public on the use of the kitchen.

There may be a tactical using the woods next to the house on Saturday and Sunday morning.

Saturday night we will have a gathering in the barn. Feel free to bring some libations and/or food. From in front of the house, you can view the sunset over the pond and perhaps watch a lawn bowling contest in the small field across the street.

If you have members that would like to demonstrate a trade, please let me know and we can have them setup near the house.
Any demonstration is welcome. I feel that the Camp-follower, Sutler, Tavern Keeper, and others are just as important to the event as the soldiers. It would be great for the public to engage with civilians that supported or were affected by the war.

Please let us know the size of your dining fly so we make sure the camp is laid out properly.

Please contact Eric Trevail if you have any questions.
