As Memorial Day weekend gets underway, we want to take a moment to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

While many of us will spend the weekend with family, friends, and community, we recognize the true meaning behind this holiday and the sacrifices that made those moments possible.

Please celebrate responsibly, travel safely, and look out for one another.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend, Sutherlin! 🇺🇸

Last week, Chief Troy Mills (Sutherlin PD), Chief Brandon Sarti (Winston PD), Chief Todd Spingath (Cow Creek Tribal PD), and Chief Jon Brewster (Myrtle Creek PD, not pictured) attended the 2026 Annual Oregon Association of Chiefs of Police Spring Conference in Pendleton to support Roseburg Police Chief Gary Klopfenstein and his department for completing the arduous task of becoming accredited through the Northwest Accreditation Alliance. Becoming an accredited agency not only raises the standard of law enforcement practices to a higher level, it also improves the services provided to the community by having an established set of consistent, safe, and effective policies. On behalf of all the Chiefs in Douglas County, CONGRATULATIONS to Chief Gary Klopfenstein and Roseburg Police Department!
