It is the policy of the Hamilton School District that no person be denied admission to any public school in this district or be denied participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be discriminated against in any curricular, extracurricular, pupil service, recreational or other program or activity because of the person's sex, race, religion, national origin, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital or parental status, sexual orientation or physical, mental, emotional or learning disability as required by section 118.13 of the statutes. This policy also prohibits student discrimination under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (sex), Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (race, color, national origin), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (handicap) and Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (disability). The District shall provide for the reasonable accommodation of a student’s sincerely held religious beliefs with regard to examinations and other academic requirements. Requests for accommodations shall be made in writing and approved by the building principal. Any accommodations or program modifications granted under this policy shall be provided to students without prejudicial effect. Requests for accommodations for children with disabilities under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act shall be processed pursuant to the Section 504 Procedures. All District career and technical education opportunities will be offered to students on a nondiscriminatory basis (without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, disability, etc.). Information regarding such program offerings and admission criteria are included in the Student Handbooks and Course Catalogs, which are posted on the District’s website (www.hamilton.k12.wi.us) and available upon request from the School Guidance Office. Children of homeless individuals and unaccompanied homeless youth (youth not in the physical custody of a parent or guardian) residing in the District shall have equal access to the same free, appropriate public education, including comparable services, as provided to other children and youth who reside in the District. Homeless children and youth shall not be required to attend a separate school or program for homeless children and shall not be stigmatized by school personnel. The District shall provide appropriate educational services or programs for students who have been identified as having a handicap or disability, regardless of the nature or severity of the handicap or disability. The District shall also provide for the reasonable accommodation of a student's sincerely held religious beliefs with regard to examinations and other academic requirements. Requests for religious accommodations shall be made in writing and approved by the building principal. The District encourages informal resolution of discrimination complaints. A formal complaint resolution procedure is available, however, to address allegations of violations of the District’s equal educational opportunities policy. Templeton Middle School recently welcomed its newest students with a special New Student Welcome event and pancake breakfast designed to help students feel connected and part of their new school community.

“Starting at a new school can be exciting but it can also feel overwhelming,” explains Templeton Middle School Counselor Beth Buschmann. “The welcome event provided an intentional opportunity for new students to meet others and begin building friendships in a fun and comfortable environment,” she adds.

The event began with ice breaking activities. Then teachers, student services staff members and School Resource Officer Alex Arteaga worked the griddle.

“Seeing students build new connections and enjoy themselves was a great reminder that a small gesture can make a big impact on their school experience,” Buschmann shares.

Hamilton High School invites the community to the Southeastern Wisconsin Adaptive Sports League’s first home game of the 2026-27 school year. The indoor soccer game will be held on Saturday, October 3 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hamilton High School gymnasium.

The league was established last fall to ensure high school students with disabilities have the same opportunities as other students who participate in quality competitive sports programs. The number of Hamilton students participating in indoor soccer has now doubled.

Upcoming ASL indoor soccer games:
Saturday, October 3, 11 a.m. @ Hamilton High School
(Hamilton vs. Oak Creek)
Monday, October 5, 6 p.m. @ Franklin High School
(Hamilton vs. Franklin)
Saturday, October 24, 4 p.m. @ Hamilton High School
(Hamilton vs. Franklin)
Wednesday, October 28, 6 p.m. @ Oak Creek High School (Hamilton vs. Oak Creek)

Southeastern Wisconsin Adaptive Sports League began as a partnership between Hamilton School District and the Oak Creek-Franklin School District. This year students from Franklin High School are also competing. The hope is to continue growing the league and welcome other districts to participate. Athletes participate in the indoor soccer games in fall, bowling in winter and indoor baseball in spring.

Hamilton High School freshman enrolled in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) elective course took a big step toward their post high school goals when they signed pledges symbolizing their determination and lifelong commitment to learning during the AVID 9 Signing Ceremony held September 25 at Hamilton High School.

AVID supports students in developing skills like communicating, collaborating and thinking critically to gain the confidence and resilience they’ll need to become successful after high school. Students enrolled in the AVID elective course receive additional academic, social and emotional support to help them succeed in their most rigorous courses. AVID can affect an entire school by providing classroom activities, teaching practices and academic behaviors that can be incorporated into any classroom to improve engagement and success for all students.

Twenty-four freshmen students are participating in AVID 9 during the 2026-27 school year. This is the first time there are AVID students across all four grade levels at HHS. The AVID college and career readiness framework relies on high quality instruction, dedicated leadership, intentional systems and a positive and safe culture for students and staff. The AVID 9 students will continue taking the AVID elective courses through their entire high school journey. These students tend to become a close-knit and supportive community during their time at HHS.

Hamilton High School senior Kate Dwyer is one of three winners in the statewide Kwik Trip Innovation Competition organized by Wisconsin Business World. This statewide contest tasks students with creating and presenting a marketing plan for a new product to be sold in Kwik Trip stores.

Dwyer’s contest submission was for “Kwik Sip Custom Sodas,” a modern take on Kwik Trip’s current self-serve Fresh Blends smoothie machines.

“I wasn’t sure it had the potential to win a statewide competition,” shares Kate Dwyer. “Knowing that others can see the value in my ideas and appreciate my efforts is very motivational, pushing me to continue to share my ideas.”

“Projects like the Kwik Trip Innovation Contest provide valuable learning opportunities by turning our classroom into a hands-on learning environment,” says Hamilton High School Business Education Teacher Chris Oechsner. “They give students the opportunity to take what they’ve learned in class and apply their skills and creatively to real-world business challenges.”

Record twelve Hamilton High School seniors have been named in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. Eligibility for the distinction is based on results of the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test which was taken by more than 1.2 million students nationwide.

Nine HHS seniors were named semifinalists:
Kollin Buch
Dylan Frankovis
Shivansh Gautam
Eric Patch
Paul Steephen
Breckwyn Vande Hei
Tobias Vera Paez
Vivian Walsh
Patrick Wang

Nationwide, approximately 16,000 semifinalists were named and will continue in the competition for Merit Scholarship awards. The nationwide pool of semifinalists, which represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. To become a finalist, a semifinalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay and earn SAT or ACT scores that confirm the students’ earlier test performance.

Three HHS seniors were named commended students:
Vyas Karra
Kaden Knauer
Abhinav Nalla
