State Park Service Overnight Facilities update:

Beginning Monday, April 26, reservations will be accepted for select State Park Service cabins, shelters and lean-tos.

🏕️Spruce Run Recreation Area – Shelters – Open June 1
⛺Stokes State Forest – Lake Ocquittunk Cabins – Open June 15

For the 2021 season, these facilities will be open Friday and Saturday nights only, ensuring thorough cleaning between guests. Reservations will be extended to three days over holiday weekends; Sunday May 30, July 4 and September 5.

Please note that the Atsion Cabins (Wharton State Forest) and the Brendan T Byrne State Forest cabins remain closed due to capital improvement projects.

The State Park Service is pleased to announce that effective Monday, March 22, primitive campsites, group campsites and additional tent/trailer campsites will be made available for reservations for the period starting April 1 through December 15 at the following locations:
- Bass River State Forest – Group Campsites – Opening April 1
- Cheesequake State Park – Group Campsites – Opening May 1
- High Point State Park and New Jersey Veterans' Memorial – Group Campsites – Opening May 1
- Round Valley Recreation Area - Group Campsites - Opening April 1
- Stokes State Forest – Additional Tent Campsites – Opening April 15
- Kittatinny Valley State Park – Group Campsites – Opening May 28
- Washington Crossing State Park – Group Campsites – Opening June 5
- Wawayanda State Park – Group Campsites – Opening April 15
- Worthington State Forest – Additional Tent Campsites – Opening May 1
- Wharton State Forest – Primitive Campsites – Opening June 1

In addition, reservations continue to be accepted for family tent and trailer campsites, RV sites and wilderness campsites at all areas through December 15.

The State Park Service hires over 700 employees annually during our peak summer season. These positions include naturalists, history educators, visitor service assistants, State Park Police visitor service assistants, trail stewards, office assistants, lifeguards, and maintenance personnel.

Salary rates start at $12 per hour for most positions, lifeguards start at $13 per hour; however, salaries vary based on experience. The minimum age to apply is 16 years old.
