Sussex Fire Department

Sussex Fire Department Welcome to the page of the Village of Sussex Fire Department. The Sussex Fire Department members are full-time, part-time, and paid-on-call.

The Sussex Fire Department has a proud history of providing emergency response services to the community since 1922. The organization is made up of employees who have undergone training that enables them to provide professional quality services in a cost-effective manner. Our members enjoy a high level of camaraderie and fellowship that few organizations can match. While we develop a high level of proficiency through our training and operations, we also make time for social functions that include the entire family. The Department goals are to minimize the risk of death, injury and/or property loss from fire, medical emergency or disaster. In addition to providing a coordinated and timely response to emergencies, the Department attempts to enhance public safety through preventative activities and public education programs.

🧯 Monday Fire Prevention Tip: Check Your Fire Extinguisher

Having a fire extinguisher is important—but knowing where it is, whether it works, and how to use it matters just as much.

Take a few minutes today to check your extinguisher and make sure it’s accessible, in good condition, and appropriate for the hazards in your home.

Remember P.A.S.S.:

🧯 P – Pull the pin
🎯 A – Aim at the base of the fire
✊ S – Squeeze the handle
↔️ S – Sweep from side to side

Only use an extinguisher on a small, contained fire when you have a clear escape route. If there’s any doubt, get out, stay out, and call 911.

Be prepared. Be confident. Be fire safe. 🚒

25 years ago tonight, nearly 3,000 people were spending their last evening with their loved ones. They had no idea what tomorrow would bring. Let that sink in.

Tomorrow, we pause to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and remember the extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and resilience shown that day.

May we never forget those we lost, the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice, and all who ran toward danger to help others.

Let their memory remind us to stand strong and united as one Nation through every challenge.

Tonight, hug your family a little closer. Kiss your loved ones goodnight. And be thankful for every moment we’re given.

9.11.01 🇺🇸 Never Forget
