Take your summer to new heights at High Point State Park and gain life-long experience while keeping visitors safe in a one of a kind setting!

No prior experience? No problem! New Jersey State Park’s will train lifeguards in CPR, Automated External Defibrillators, First Aid and other necessary medical practices. Each lifeguard will also receive a U.S. Lifesaving Association certification.

Lifeguard salaries start at $19 an hour. Junior lifeguard salaries are $17.50 an hour.

🛟Lifeguards develop lasting strengths and qualities including teamwork, leadership, clear communication, preparedness, situational awareness and the ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
🛟Junior lifeguards work on skills training, giving new recruits a head start on their experience. Junior lifeguards cannot perform lifeguard duties for the public until age 16. Applicants must be 15 years old.

To get started, apply online and attend a regional swim and run test.

Join us and the AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassador on Saturday!

Guided Hike Series at High Point State Park and New Jersey Veterans' Memorial ❄️🌷☀️

Come to one or come to them all! Join AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassador Lena Ouellette to observe the forest throughout the seasons, learn about its history, and appreciate the wetlands! This guided hike series will consist of hiking the scenic and historic Life Trail/Park Ridge Road (~ 1.5 miles). We will host three separate hikes Winter Walk, Spring Stroll, and Summer Strides)

📆Below are the dates and rain dates for all three events in this series:
❄️The Winter Walk (March 21st) (Rain date of March 29th)
🌷The Spring Stroll (April 11th) (Rain date April 18th)
☀️The Summer Strides (May 16th) (Rain date May 23rd)

🕔 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM for all three hikes

📍Please meet us in the Winter Trails Parking Lot in High Point State Park, Montague, NJ 07827 (41.3077, -74.6809)

❄️Winter Walk- Dress for the weather (Layers). Please wear snowshoes, spikes, or snow boots.
‼️A limited number of adult and children's snowshoes are available for this event‼️

🌷Spring Stroll- Dress for the weather. Please wear footwear for hiking that may get muddy.

☀️Summer Strides- Dress for the weather. Please wear footwear for hiking that may get muddy.

❄️🌷☀️For all three, recommend bringing a small backpack/bag with water and snacks. Any ID guides or binoculars are always welcome!

Can you hear that?
The recent stretch of warm days and rainy nights brought thousands of frogs and salamanders out of hibernation, and they have gathered in their breeding ponds.

That is the sound of male wood frogs calling to establish territories and attract mates. There are salamanders in there too, but they are silent and sneaky.
