Surry Village Charter School

Surry Village Charter School Surry Village Charter School is a public school that offers a multi-grade education to students in grades K-8. Approximately 90 students attend SVCS.

The Surry Village Charter School is a State authorized open enrollment charter school. If there are spaces available, any child living in the State can attend the school at no cost. Our classrooms are multi-age, except for kindergarten. Classroom configurations are kindergarten, 1st & 2nd, 3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th, 7th & 8th. We are located on two campuses, K-6 in Surry, 7th & 8th in Keene. THE PHILOS

OPHY

A village school offers students a crucial sense of connection and belonging that enables them to thrive. As part of a community, students learn to negotiate conflicts, tolerate differences, and see the value in service. Within the village context, where intergenerational role models frequent each classroom to teach practical skills, students grasp the relevance of their learning. Curiosity and in-depth exploration arise naturally as teachers, parents, townspeople, and students work and celebrate together. We prepare our students to be engaged citizens who become part of the fabric of a community, whether it is this one or one halfway around the world. Our 3/4 class enjoyed a beautiful nature walk through Surry, exploring historic stone walls and taking in the gorgeous scenery all around us! Students observed nature up close, shared discoveries with classmates, and appreciated the beauty of our local community. What a wonderful way to learn and explore together! 🌲🌼👟

🌲🍃 Our SVCS 1/2 class has been having a wonderful time during Forest Fridays! Students have been climbing trees 🌳, exploring the outdoors 🥾, and learning all about nature through hands-on adventures and discovery. 🌱🫑🥕 Our SVCS 3/4 graders had a wonderful field trip to Pete’s Stand in Walpole, NH! Students learned all about gardening, planting vegetables, and even how to plant multiple pepper plants in a short amount of time using a tractor! 🚜🍅🌼 Thank you to the amazing staff at Pete’s Stand for providing such a fun and educational experience for our students! 🌻

🤖🏆 SVCS is proud to celebrate our amazing recent CoderZ competition success at Pinkerton Academy! Our talented students showcased incredible teamwork, problem-solving, and coding skills while competing against schools from across the state. 🚀💻

We are thrilled to announce that SVCS earned both 🥈 2nd Place and 🎉 4th Place State finishes! What an outstanding accomplishment for our students and coaches. Their hard work, creativity, and perseverance truly paid off, and we could not be prouder of the way they represented our school! 👏🤩💙

🎉 Our SVCS 1/2 Class had an exciting adventure during their field trip to the Keene Family YMCA! Students had a blast exploring the foam pit, soaring on the rope swing, and climbing through the obstacle and play structures. 🧗‍♂️🪢✨

The trip was filled with laughter, movement, teamwork, and lots of smiles as students challenged themselves, encouraged their classmates, and enjoyed trying new activities. What a fun and active day of learning and play together! 💙😊

🎨✨ Our SVCS 1/2 Class has been busy creating beautiful collage masterpieces with Jenna inspired by the artwork of Henri Matisse!

Matisse was famous for his bright colors, bold shapes, and creative paper cut-outs. His artwork often looked playful and full of movement, using simple shapes like leaves, stars, flowers, and abstract designs layered together to create eye-catching scenes. 🌈✂️🖼️
