The session will feature remarks by ADOT Director Jennifer Toth, followed by an interactive session to gather feedback on transportation issues and priorities and a demonstration of an online mapping tool to provide location-specific comments.

β€œWe have visited locations around the state with a goal of strengthening the connection between our transportation system and the communities it serves,” Toth said. β€œThis interactive virtual session is a chance for us to hear from those we may not get to see in person.”

Can’t make the meeting? You can still participate anytime through the online survey and commenting on an interactive map.

The Next Move Arizona listening tour launched in late 2025 and is scheduled to continue through July. To date, the tour has included approximately 60 in-person listening sessions throughout the state with cities and towns, tribal nations, regional planning organizations and community organizations, as well as Next Move Arizona booths at 14 community events.

Upcoming Restrictions on Waddell Road West of Loop 303

Due to widening work on Waddell Road, there will be temporary road restrictions as crews work to pave a new lane. This is a developer-led project that provides an additional lane adjacent to their property.

On Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9, traffic will be reduced to one lane from 172nd Avenue to Cotton Lane between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. A flagger will direct alternating traffic through the work zone. Drivers are encouraged to use Greenway Road or Cactus Road to avoid delays.

When the restrictions are lifted, the new lane will not be immediately open to traffic as striping will still need to be completed in the next few weeks. Once the striping is complete, drivers can expect two eastbound travel lanes and one westbound travel lane.

The City will later build an additional westbound lane as part of G.O. Bond projects made possible by the voters of Surprise.
