This collection is for Town residents only.

Reaching out for your help. We are looking for pictures of all Surfside Beach piers with dates, along with the hurricanes we lost them to. If anyone has additional information regarding ownership that will also be appreciated. This information is important to our projects for this year. "Surfside Beach History in pictures." Thank you.

This meeting this evening was very productive. We completed the agenda except for suggestions on fundraiser projects. That was postponed until next month. Our projects for this year are going to be the history of Surfsde Beach in pictures. There will be several History Harvesting events to scan your photos with your stories. Needless to say lots of fun with fond memories. We also voted on researching each pier that was built in the Town of Surfside Beach. We hope to have the two final history markers completed soon. We have a busy year ahead. Look for more to come. Everyone is welcome to join our group and look forward to seeing you soon. Mary Beth Mabry

Our next scheduled general meeting is April 7th at 5:30 at the Dick Johnson civic center. The agenda will include housekeeping issues regarding updating of our bylaws. Appointing an events committee and other committees to
move forward in the upcoming year. We will be discussing events and projects the Historical Society needs to take on. Some suggestions include an historical sign at the pier with a brief history of all the piers, a history of Surfside Beach in pictures, using the Historical Registry for our early historical buildings. We are very interested in what you think is important for us to research or work on. We hope to continue our educational series and will be available to give presentations to your group. If you love history, can help with organizing, and like working in your community we are the group for you. Please come and check us out.

Last night meeting was the election of new officers. We also will be going over the by laws that must be revised at next meeting. We will be working the BBQ festival on Saturday. Also, March is membership month. I will be posting a membership form hopefully later in the day. Membership dues are tax deductible. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A MEMBER TO ATTEND OR HAVE INPUT. Only members can vote. All are welcome. Next meeting will be packed with ideas and suggestions and we want to hear from you.
