Dear Friends of Douglas County Waters,
This fall I've been hearing quite a few reports from local anglers getting large clumps of invasive Spiny Waterflea stuck to their fishing lines while trolling L. Superior. Spiny Waterflea populations peak in the fall, so now is a key time to monitor and work to keep them out of our inland lakes!
If you'd like to learn more, have a look at my quick 5-minute "Lighting Talk" video explaining the basics of Spiny Wateflea prevention, and discussing some simple methods folks can use to monitor and check your own local lake for Spinys.

With fishing opener around the corner and seasonal travelers returning to the Northwoods, it is perfect timing to remind your network to CLEAN, DRAIN, and DRY to prevent the spread of spiny waterfleas and other aquatic invasive species. Let's keep our lakes clean and healthy this season!
