We want EVERYONE to feel welcome at the library! That's why we created our Serenity Space — a special room designed for people of all ages who could use a quiet space to decompress and relax. The room has a variety of devices and furniture to meet the varied sensory needs of our patrons, including relaxing lights, fidget toys, gel tiles, calming pillows and weighted blankets, mindfulness prompts, an activity wall, and bubble tube.

The Serenity Space can be reserved in-person at the library (just ask at the Circulation Desk), over the phone by calling (715) 394-8860, or by emailing [email protected]. Serenity Space reservations are for a maximum of 45 minutes, and patrons aged 13 and under need to supervised by a parent or guardian.

The St. Louis River's second River Revival event is tonight at 5 p.m. at the library! Guest speakers from the 1854 Treaty Authority will help us explore the cultural and ecological importance of manoomin (wild rice), provide an opportunity to see harvesting tools, and share how community voices are helping guide restoration and protection efforts throughout the St. Louis River estuary. Attendees will also enjoy an update on the Wisconsin Point Resiliency Study and learn how storms and changing lake levels are affecting the shoreline, and what what can be done about it.

There will also be a special story reading in the Youth Services area featuring the book "Our Ancestors' Kitchen" by Willie Poll.

This free, family-friendly event is open to all ages and a light dinner will be served.

The Friends of Superior Public Library held their annual meeting this week and celebrated another successful year of advocacy, volunteering, and fundraising on behalf of the library. Friend of the Library Kay Fredrickson presented a check for $15,000 to Library Director Sue Heskin which will be used to support and enhance the library's collection of materials for people of all ages and interests! Thank you, Friends of the Library, for your generous financial support!

Library Director Sue Heskin also presented the Volunteer of the Year award to Friends of the Library treasurer Kathy Gellerstedt. When the previous treasurer moved out of state, Kathy took on the role and has done a fantastic job in her new position. In addition to her treasurer duties, she has also used her expertise from her career in childhood education to keep the children's collection in the Friends of the Library Book Corner stocked, organized, and looking great! Her positive attitude and friendly demeanor make her the perfect example of what it means to be a Friend of the Library. Thank you, Kathy!

THANK YOU to the Friends of Superior Public Library for all you do on behalf of the library!

We’ll display our decorations at the library all summer long, but you’ll also make a dinosaur craft to take home, too! No registration required and all supplies provided!
