YES! A huge thank you! The color purple "FITs" our Department perfectly! Seriously appreciate the donation! It's already in use!

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our local Apache Junction Planet Fitness for their generous donation of fitness equipment!

Our very own Captain Shively played a key role in arranging this generous donation, not only for SFMD but also for the Superior Fire Department, Queen Valley Fire District , Kearny Volunteer Fire Department, Eloy Fire District, and the Arizona Department of Corrections Wildland Crews.

Staying in shape is crucial for firefighters to perform their duties correctly, efficiently, and safely. With the additional equipment at our stations, our firefighters will be better equipped to maintain their physical fitness and stay in peak preparedness!

Today, was another successful day on the . Thanks to more accurate mapping the fire is now 7,194 acres. Very little growth occurred on the fire today and most fire behavior was observed within the interior of control lines. This natural caused fire has burned with low intensity, reducing a heavy buildup of dead grass that would have otherwise been available for future fires at a less desirable time of the season. Unnaturally high accumulation of fuels have the potential to cause high severity wildfires. Firefighters from the Wood Fire want to thank our cooperators Arizona Department of Transportation, the Town of Superior, Arizona Department of Public Safety, and the Pinal County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with the vehicle fire that occurred near the fire area. At this time all traffic on SR 177 has resumed its normal pattern, and power to Salt River Project lines have been restored. Firefighters will remain in the area over the coming days and the public should expect to continue to see smoke as interior pockets burn remaining fuel within containment lines. There is no threat to the local communities at this time. Wood Fire incident updates are available on Inciweb at:

Incidents Page of for the Inciweb site.

Update from πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ Globe Ranger for the U.S. Forest Service-Tonto National Forest.

The is not posing any threat to Superior and it is not growing quickly. They pulled the crews off the fire for tonight and they will return in the morning. Superior Fire Department is also monitoring the fire.

We will still see smoke and flames, but there is a high probability that the fire could burn itself out overnight. Weather conditions are in our favor to assist with this. Higher humidity and cooler temperatures are helpful.

This was a lighting caused fire, and is behaving as a nature caused fire, which is a positive. This is also area that burned during the Telegraph fire, so it’s burning grasses.
