DWD’s very own Michele Carter was celebrated, along with other honorable veterans, at Governor Tony Evers' Veterans Day reception for her years of dedicated service in the United States Army.

Michele has served as DWD’s Division of Employment and Training (DET) Administrator since 2020. Prior to joining DET, she worked for 16 years with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and has an extensive background in economic development initiatives that target disadvantaged businesses and individuals.

Michele, a Retired Major, served 23 years of enlisted and commissioned military service in the Army Reserve and National Guard, and trained in personnel administration, military law, signal communications, and chemical operations. Her leadership assignments ranged from Legal Specialist and Administrative Sergeant to Signal Officer, Battery Commander and Intelligence Officer.

Thank you, Michele, for your sacrifice, your service, and your continued commitment to making Wisconsin stronger. We are honored to work alongside you.
