PD DOORDASH 2.0: THE CHURCH EDITION
Y’all remember last week when we teamed up with some amazing local businesses and launched PD DOORDASH to keep the teachers at Hurricane Deck Elementary fed during the chaos of the first week of school?
Well… apparently Sgt Coonio has decided the “Serve” in Serve and Protect” refers to lunch.😂
This week, PD DOORDASH 2.0 rolled into Lake Christian Academy , and this time we teamed up with some incredible local churches to make sure their amazing teachers didn’t have to worry about lunch.
And folks… nobody went hungry. 👇
DAY ONE: PIZZA PALOOZA
The fine folks at First Baptist Church of Sunrise Beach sponsored a mountain of mouthwatering pizza, while Sunrise Farm Market showed up with fresh fruit salad.
Pizza + fruit = a nutritionally balanced meal.
We checked. Probably. 🤷♂️
DAY TWO: WALKING TACO TAKEOVER
For Day Two, the officers of the Sunrise Beach Police Department decided to put our culinary skills to the test and personally sponsored AND prepared a full-blown walking taco bar with ALL the fixins.
Taco meat? ✅
Chips? ✅
Cheese? Obviously. ✅
Enough toppings to require a tactical deployment plan? Also yes. ✅
Then Sunrise Farmers Market came through with an absolutely RIDICULOUS amount of delicious Amish-baked cookies.
Sgt Coonio isn’t saying he conducted quality-control testing before delivery… but he’s also not prepared to make any statements. 👀😂
DAY THREE: THE CHURCH POTLUCK
And if you’ve ever been to a church potluck, you already know what happened next.
The wonderful folks at Kent Memorial Lutheran Church - ELCA showed up with a full smorgasbord of homemade potluck dishes for the teachers.
At that point, PD DOORDASH officially lost control of the operation.
There was food everywhere! It was especially difficult to keep Sgt Coonio away from the boxes of donuts 😳
And because apparently Sunrise Farmers Market has made it their personal mission to prevent vitamin deficiencies among area educators, they came through AGAIN with another round of fresh fruit salad.
Three days.
Three huge lunches.
A bunch of full teachers.
A whole lot of community love. ❤️
But the best part of PD DOORDASH has never really been the food.
It’s watching our community step up to take care of the people who spend every day taking care of our kids.
A HUGE thank you to Sunrise Beach First Baptist, Kent Memorial Lutheran Church, and Sunrise Farmers Market for jumping on board with our latest questionable idea. 😂
And to the teachers and staff at Lake Christian Academy:
Thank you for what you do every single day. We hope you felt just a little bit spoiled this week.
PD DOORDASH 2.0: Protect. Serve. Deliver Lunch.
P.S. Sgt. Coonio has formally requested that PD DOORDASH 3.0 include a dedicated snack procurement division.
His request is currently under administrative review. 🦝🍪
