Beyond Intent

Beyond Intent Beyond Intent Our work began in January 2007 and received 501(c)(3) tax exempt status in January 2008.

Our Mission

To help the less fortunate children harness their educational potential by providing educational resources required to go beyond primary and secondary education
To undertake infrastructural projects to improve the standard of living of children in residential institutions
To support needy students who are in primary and/or middle schools
To provide advice and guidance to all the deser

ving students towards higher education
Supporting projects that will provide correct technology and tools to develop interest towards gaining higher education

Our beliefs

That every child deserves a happy and healthy childhood
That education is the most potent weapon towards empowerment
That every beneficiary in turn needs to give back to the system
We must work together to help all poor students aspiring to reach his/her educational goals

A Little more…

We strongly believe that education is the most potent weapon against poverty and place a great value on higher education and its ability to bring about a social change. Beyond Intent believes in helping the under-privileged and needy; but also those who have the potential but are lacking resources. While doing so, we also emphasize that those who receive help, should in some way give it back to the society and hope that this ‘circle of help’ continues to grow as more and more people receive aid. While there are quite a few non-profit organizations that aim their efforts towards primary education, there are not many that work for students who aspire for higher studies. Our organization believes that to truly uplift a community one has to look beyond just basic literacy; the community will prosper only if its people pursue education. Education not only helps the individual succeed and grow but the society as a whole. Beyond Intent is also open to support students in need of primary and/or middle-level schooling. Beyond Intent believes that a lack of good living conditions are the biggest impediments to education, hence it also plans to support projects, which will have a positive impact on improving the basic standard of living. The needs may be rudimentary but are a crucial requirement for a healthy living; therefore ‘Beyond Intent’ also plans to take up projects to improve the basic infrastructure like setting up clean water supply, etc

This organization came into existence in January 2007 as a result of efforts by three San Diego based young engineers, Piyush Gupta, Satyanarayanan Ranganathan and Sandeep Kolte. We are a non-profit organization with 501(C)(3) status, registered with federal government.

Hello all,

You are probably familiar with
the tragedy in my life. Despite that, for past two years
I have been keeping Beyond Intent alive behind the scenes. We just reduced the student intake, and I was able to sponsor a few kids education on my own...

We are thinking of taking up 4 projects this year at our Gangadhar Baba Ashram, Guha, Shirdi, India.

Just wanted to post this quick update to let you know Beyond Intent is alive.

A while ago, I was asked if it would be a good idea to shut it down. With everything going on with Neev's illness, I thought it might be a good idea. But then my child asked me even if one child can be educated then why would you not continue?

We are going to need your help, I am going to need your help.... Please reach out to me if you can.

Sandeep

Some dreams do come true! This one was 12 years in waiting.

Beyond Intent always wanted to support a student through his / her Post Graduate degree. Unfortunately most of our students never opted for PG courses due to their family situations and we stopped pushing them as well. After 12 years, we have our first PG student who wrote to us today.

I still remember the day when I told him not to apply as we were out of funds, he waited a year and asked again..When I asked him why did he wait when he knew the answer already..he said - there was some hope in your words. Today he is officially a Pediatric Dentist. Kudos to him for all the hard work.

While we are all surrounded by the sad news, let us share some good news!

Beyond Intent just sponsored the education of 5 students, one in Pune and other four in deep interiors of Maharashtra.

It took four months, literally 11 trips to the bank and several calls to authorities in India as well as US to get the funds across, and to ensure they reach the students. All five students have confirmed they have received the funds.

Here are our two students, Varsha and Ganesh, who need your help. Varsha is in the fourth and final year of Instrumentation Engineering.
Ganesh, her brother, is in third year of Agriculture Diploma. Their mother does odd jobs and makes barely enough ($50/month) to support the family. We have supported and financed their education right from the start.

We have known them for 3 years now. Varsha and Ganesh are really hard-working and understand that education is the only way to improve their lives and those of the family around them.

We need to raise $3100 ($1000 for Ganesh, $2100 for Varsha) for this academic year.

If you would like to help them or have any questions, please let us know. You can donate on our website at www.beyondintent.org. All the funds will directly go towards their education.

We recently visited the Gangadhar Baba Chhatralaya with one of our supporters, Sumira Sethi Chandhok, director at ODSER.
ODSER CHARITABLE TRUST is a non-profit organization with the vision to one day equip all students/all age people of any religion, community, cast, gender of all age with the education, skills and character they need to lead empowered lives. Odser has been working through its need-based programs focused on access to education, food, livelihood training and healthcare.

Sumira, beautifully expressed her experience at the chhatralaya in the following words -

“The Ashram is a wonderful place and I have comes back with such great memories that my heart can't stop smiling!

Mr. Prakash and his wife are wonderful souls to be doing what they are.

The kids not only are kept clean and fed well they looked happy and for me it was just a point of connection to see dreams in their eyes... which is just a proof of the wonderful life that they are living in the given circumstances !

I am humbled by all the work u guys are doing for these kids... u all truly make a difference in their lives ❤”

We are happy that Sumira made a positive and heartwarming connection with the students at the chhatralaya. We look forward to working together with ODSER to provide supplemental educational resources to these deserving students.

One of our very dedicated tutors- Kavita Kadam-Sawant who conducts English classes for kids residing in Gangadhar Baba orphanage visited the 70+ students in person with her family and shared her amazing experience with us. The kids showed so much warmth and happiness that Kavita and her family were overwhelmed with all the love showered.
Kavita donated a lot of books(bought age wise) for all kids as well as food. She saw the kids are doing well thanks to the caretaker Mr.Prakash Sapkal and his wife whose own kids also help out in our tutoring sessions. And of course thanks to our donors at BI who make sure these kids get the education they deserve. She saw the kids are self sufficient, a lot of things are done to achieve that for 70 plus kids including making sure the kids take filtered water from the orphanage for attending school.
Every minute spent there in Kavita’s own words was full of positivity and happiness. She tried to see anything that could have been a red flag and deserved some attention but found none. The kids also recited poems and stories in English which just showed all the hard work and effort put in by the kids and tutors! Thanks a lot Kavita! We hope this effort continues and we keep up the work of making a difference one child at a time!
