Join us in welcoming our new town manager.

Sunnyvale’s Town Council has named a new Town Manager! Dannette Garcia will begin serving as Town Manager on April 20.

Garcia brings more than 17 years of experience in municipal government and the private sector. She comes to Sunnyvale from the City of Richardson, where she has served as assistant city manager since 2023. Her service in Richardson was marked by a strong reputation for professionalism and collaborative leadership. She oversaw that city’s public services, library, community services and health department operations.

Sunnyvale Mayor Saji George expressed the Town Council’s enthusiasm for the appointment of Ms. Garcia, noting that the Council conducted a thoughtful search to ensure alignment with Sunnyvale’s vision and goals. He highlighted her strong commitment to public service and proven leadership in both large and smaller municipalities. Mayor George added that she joins at a pivotal time as the Town advances key capital improvement projects, including a new Town Hall, Police Station, Animal Services Center, and public library, and expressed confidence in her ability to help lead Sunnyvale’s continued success.

Ms. Garcia says she is excited for the opportunity to work with Sunnyvale’s staff and elected officials. “I see the Town of Sunnyvale as an organization and a community with a great many positive attributes. I look forward to working with the Mayor, Town Council and Town staff to maximize those attributes. I believe my experience and background can be utilized to help Sunnyvale’s vision thrive and move forward.”

Garcia has a bachelor’s degree in political science and a Master of Public Administration, both from the University of North Texas. She has served on the International City and County Management Association (ICMA) Advisory Board on Graduate Education, as an ICMA Chapter Mentor, Urban Management Assistants of North Texas (UMANT) Executive Committee and Scholarship Chair and is an active member of the North Texas City Management Association.
