I'm coordinating children's art classes out of my home on North Murphy ave. I have been a professional artist for over 20years. I'm looking for seriously passionate art students to help grow and nurture their abilities. I offer a free consultation with parents and student to discuss their goals and needs as student artists. I aim to stimulate my students minds and intelligence. My teaching philoso
phies are rooted in three beliefs. That nature is the ultimate teacher and example. Especially in regards to color and composition. Without art ,and even the most humble or artists recording our lives . Entire parts of human history would have vanished and been lost to time. Making art and artists not just relevant. But essential to human civilization. The third is that Art is not simple creativity. Art is a unique form of intelligence. Thus far only observed in the human species. I hate when people minimize art as simply creative. Look at what it takes to retrieve a shapeless idea from the brain and bring it into being. Its really quite amazing if you ponder the idea. I like my students to explore things like. Giving shape to the shapeless- VS- being a copy machine. One class I teach is on picking an emotion. And then drawing and painting it. This process is often very cathartic for the student. You would think that some of this is heavy for children. But my kids parents really appreciate that i'm not dumbing their children with a banal crafts class . disguised as an art class. Especially my Chinese clients. Who are looking to strengthen their children's creative problem solving skills. My classroom is both in and outdoors so that my students have room for both concentrating and interacting with others. Classes will be an hour and a half long and cost $30.00
If you can get 3 students to sign up in addition to your child? You get 3 free classes! I'm waiting for a response to set a schedule based on what is best for my parents. References available on request. Thank you , and I look forward to working with your talented children. Scott Riddle
