Hi DFS Fam 👋 We’re super excited by the results of our impact report, where we surveyed families who received devices or connectivity to better understand the impact on their lives. Happy to report back that we found: 1️⃣ DFS entirely closed the digital divide for all families surveyed, 2️⃣ Improved connection to high-speed internet increased in ranking, and 3️⃣Connection allowed increased time to study, communicate, and work! 🎉

🚨Good news alert! 🚨 Santa Clara Couty officials announced they'll be donating $7.1 million to provide 15,000 under-connected students in San Jose with laptops, tablets, and hotspots!

Back to school looks different this year, especially as families struggle to find devices that allow their children to participate in virtual schooling. 📓 This has created a supply and demand problem: Lenovo, HP, and Dell told school districts they're short almost 5 million laptops, which poses difficulty for low income families who rely on school laptop lending. 💻 If you have a laptop at home aren't using, we'll set it up to equip a student with a year of learning. 📚

The teachers union is expecting that students will alternate between remote learning and classroom instruction in order to lessen daily classroom population. Remote learning is becoming the norm - and it’s more important than ever to connect these students to their education.
