We would like to congratulate Levi Ferster from Line Mountain School District for becoming the Pennsylvania State FFA President for 2026-2027! Its great to see one of our local youth take on this role.

One of the popular stations from our numerous field trips over the past month-plus included a guided hike to explore species at the Montour Preserve. One of our volunteer station leaders, Kevin Witt, took some photos of the species found during one of our field trips. How many can you identify? The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture is now accepting entries for the Pennsylvania Agriculture Photo Contest.

Pennsylvania residents can submit up to four original photos highlighting the people, places, traditions, and beauty of agriculture across the Commonwealth.

Winning photos will be displayed in the Pennsylvania Capitol Complex during the first the weeks of September.

Categories:
On the Farm: Featuring buildings, equipment, landscapes, and daily activities that represent life on a Pennsylvania farm.

PA Fair Season: Showcasing the traditions, excitement, and community spirit of Pennsylvania’s fair season.

Agritourism: Highlighting Pennsylvania’s agricultural and seasonal destinations, including orchards, wineries, and farmers’ markets.

Conservation: Capturing Pennsylvania’s natural beauty through landscapes and waterways.

We would like to take this time to congratulate Mt. Caramel Team D for their 1st place win for Northumberland County at the Susquehanna Valley Envirothon. This years Middle School Envirothon was held at the Montour Preserve and teams were present from Columbia, Northumberland, Union, and Snyder Counties. Each County crowned a 1st place winner.

The District is happy to announce that we will once again be holding a FREE kids Conservation Summer Camp from June 22-June 24. Kids from ages 8-14 are encouraged to register. The Camp will run from 9am - 3pm each day. Limited Space is available and the deadline to register is June 12, 2026. To register please see the picture below.

The camp will include: Equipment Demonstrations, Farm Animal Visits, Nature Walks/Plant Identification, Scavenger Hunts for Wildlife, Interactive Water Tables, Stream Visit, Master Gardeners Presentation, and an Optional Field Trip.
