GA everyone! A few updates. Better late than never!

First, Prez Bob Parsons, HA Committee, asked me to let our members know that there will be a HA Committee Monthly Meeting this Monday, April 8, 2024 at 7pm sharp! Please attend if your schedule permits!

Second, per John E Barnhart III, Jr Vice Commander, the band Modern Outlaws will play at our Post this Saturday from 8pm - 11pm. Doors will open at 7pm! I believe this is the first time this band will play at out Post? I have read some of the reviews on the home FB Page and they are awesome!! Come out and suppport our Post, spend money and have a great time! We look forward to seeing you!!

Myohmyohmy! It shouldn't be this hard to communicate with those who support us!! So sorry for the lack of communications from me to all of you! It's been an interesting month or so! Thanks for your loyalty to our Post!! We appreciate you!! Now let me get you up to date with things!!

I tried to post sometime in March to let you know the SVBL (Susquehanna Valley Billiards League) had another successful Pool Tournament 03-01 thru 03-03-24. BUT my post got flagged for some lame reason. I appealed and the fact checkers advised me they would allow my post to be seen? But surprise, surprise.....it didn't happen and no idea why?? It was a very successful Tournament and our Post had more $$$ coming in to support us!! Thanks to the players, family, friends, fans and Members of the ALP 201 for showing up and spending money! You are the best! We are nothing without each of YOU!!

The SVBL also held another one day mini Pool Tournament for a special cause which was held on 03-23-24. Once again we had good crowds and we saw increased revenues!!

Upcoming Event.....Saturday.....April 6th.....7p - 10pm....Local PA Band ....Modern Outlaws...will perform at our Post. There is a $5 entrance fee! We have heard nothing but positive feedback regarding this group and we are pleased, proud and privileged to have them perform at our Post!!! Come early, stay late and spend money!!

We are also pleased to announce a new event for our Post. Legionnnaires, Social Members, Friends, General Public, No one is excluded!!! We now have On Line Gambling for your pleasure! Update for our American Legion Post 201 Events FB Page!

There is a Karaoke Night scheduled at ALP 201 for Friday, January 19, 2024 starting at 7pm - 10pm! I am not very tech saavy and was not able to share the actual flyer with those who follow our Post!! I don't know if it's the user or my Android!??!! LOL!

Hope to see a big crowd and thanks to everyone for supporting our Post! You are all appreciated!!

Just a few quick updates for everyone! The Home Association Meeting was originally scheduled for Monday 01-08-24 at 7pm. However due to the weather it has been rescheduled to Wed 01-10-24 at 6pm! The Executive Meeting the regular Post Meeting will be held on the same day. The Executive Meeting will take place at 6:30pm and the Regular Post Meeting will be at 7:30pm! It's a lot of meetings in one day but it is what it is and it will be what it will be!!

Just to also let you that there are "hard copy" schedules for the HA, our SAL Squadron as well as our Regular Post in the entrance to our Post as well as our 1st Fl and 2nd Fl bulletin boards as well as in the Social area of the Post!!

Let's hope the weather will calm down a bit between now and tomorrow??? I know, I know, it's January but come on!! We all deserve better!! LOL!!

Good afternoon one and all! Happy New Year! Just a few announcements for you.

The SAL Squadron, (SAL Commander Jason Burkland) will hold their meeting in the Post 201 Banquet Hall Wednesday 01-03-24 at 7pm. Focus will be on getting more 2024 memberships processed so that SAL Members can actually receive their current dues cards and have a quorum present to begin to hold actual meetings. 17th District Commander David Weakland and 17th District SAL Commander, Ray McDonald, will be in attendance!! Hoping for an excellent turnout! The SAL Squadron meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7pm!!

The Home Association Committee, (HA President, Robert I Parsons) and members will meet on Monday, 01-08-24 at 7pm in the Post 201 Banquet Hall. Please plan to attend if your schedule permits! The HA Committee will meet on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7p,

And lastly our Regular Monthly Post Meeting, (Commander Michael P. Toomey) will be held on Wednesday, 01-10-24 in the Post 201 Banquet Hall. The Executive Committee will start at 6:30pm and the Regular Post Meeting will start at 7:30pm. Our Regular Post Meetings will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month! 2024

Schedules for both the Home Association and the Regular Post meetings are now on the Bullletin Boards inside the Post on both the 1st and 2nd floors! The SAL Squadron will publish their schedule as soon as they complete it!

Our 2024 Membership Drive continues to be fairly strong. We have a total of 182 Members. Thus far, 148 Members are paid through Early Bird Program through 12-31-24! Total % attainment is 81.32%. 12 members passed away in 2023, so despite our best efforts, our Post numbers will continue to trend downward! We will keep working at turning this around. We still have 34 more members to pay their dues! Each who is delinquent will receive REMINDERS from the National. BUT we all know we need younger men and women to step up and step out to help us turn our Post around. At every level....Regular, HA, SAL Squadron, and the Auxiliary.

The next election for Regular Post Officers will be on 06-12-24!! Please, please, please get involved!! It's closer than anyone thinks!

Also both the National and the Department raised their annual dues. At the local level, we did not raise DUES in either '22, '23 or '24 so we are going to have to raise them in '25 for sure. The actual amount will be determined at the Regular Post Meeting on 01-10-24.

Notice of Passing

We said farewell to two very good and decent men recently.

Roy W Lenig, 96-years young, was a 56-year member of our Post 201 and a lifetime member of VFW 1532 in Sunbury went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 18, 2023. He was a very respected Member of each of our Posts and a consistent attendee of the VFW 1532 Veteran's Breakfast on the 3rd Saturday of each month. He had a smile we will never forget! Roy was buried with full military honors on December 21st at Northumberland Memorial Park. There were 14 veterans who showed up to pay their respects to this WW II Veteran. We will always remember you Roy!!

And on Friday, December 28, 2023, we paid respects to a brother, a father, a grandfather, and our friend and mentor, Richard A Simpson. American Legion Post 201 and many other American Legion Posts from throughout District 17 as well as various VFW Posts, Marine League Corps and all the Sunbury - Northumberland Fire Companies gave our friend a very proper send off. The service conducted by the Fire Companies was so fitting for a man who had given so much to so many. Dick's service ended with full military honors conducted by Veterans from the area at the Riverside Cemetery. He will be missed but he will always be remembered for what he did for so many others during his life. Rest in Peace Dick and thank you for a job very well done!!

So sorry for the lapse in posting to this site!! Just not enough hours in the day lately!!

We are within 2 weeks of the Christmas holiday! It will be here and gone before we realize it!! Please take note that our Post will be CLOSED ALL DAY Christmas Day AND New Years Day!

The HA Committee has a meeting tonight (Monday 12-11-23 at 7pm), Bob Parsons, the HA Prez, said the Committee will make a decision at this meeting as to whether there will be extended hours for Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Once this is decided we will post this info so you are on board.

Our Regular Post Meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 13th at 7:30pm in the Banquet Hall. The Executive Committee Meeting will begin at 6:15pm.

On behalf of ALL 182 Members and Post Officers of American Legioln Post 201, an early Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. It is truly a beautiful time of the year. Hope 2024 brings you health, happiness and prosperity!
