EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD
It is the intent of the Northumberland County Juvenile Court and its Advisory Board to honor a dedicated teacher in any Northumberland County school district, pre-kindergarten through grade 12, whose dedication and classroom contributions have greatly benefited the institution, the community, and the students it serves. Nominees for the award must have demonstrated an exceptional ability to go above and beyond the requirements in making a difference in the classroom and in the student’s lives.

THE FRED PIERMATTEI YOUTH SERVICE AWARD INTRODUCTION:

The Fred Piermattei Youth Service Award is presented annually by the Northumberland County Juvenile Court and it’s Advisory Board in memory of the late Fred Piermattei. Mr. Piermattei was active in serving the youth of Northumberland County from 1969-1981. During these twelve years, Fred was a foster parent for the Northumberland County Children & Youth Services Agency, as well as the Juvenile Court Services. He touched the lives of approximately 120 foster children during that time. He was an active member of the Northumberland County Juvenile Court Services Advisory Board, Treasurer of the Northumberland County Foster Parents Association and the Board of Directors of Project 10-4, Inc. Mr. Piermattei received both the Lions and Rotary Clubs’ Awards for Service to Youth.

Fred Piermattei gave his time unselfishly to serve the youth of Northumberland County on a volunteer basis, whenever and wherever a need arose. Fred was a kind, gentle and loving man and, in turn, was very much loved. In his memory, the Fred Piermattei Youth Service Award will continue to commend persons who have served Northumberland County youth in a distinguished manner.

THE FRED PIERMATTEI YOUTH SERVICE AWARD will be awarded at the annual Juvenile Court Banquet on October 20, 2022.

Congratulations to our 2021 Fred Piermattei Youth Service Award winner, Ian Snyder!
He was unable to attend the Juvenile Court banquet so it was an honor to present it to him yesterday at the youth center he founded in Sunbury called The Refuge.

We had a great night at the 2021 Juvenile Court Banquet!
It was wonderful to gather together and be able to honor our Award winners in person.
Also, a big THANK YOU to the Juvenile Probation staff for their hard work and dedication to the youth of Northumberland County.
