🇺🇸 25 YEARS LATER 🇺🇸
Twenty-five years ago, on September 11, 2001, our nation witnessed unimaginable tragedy — and extraordinary courage.
While thousands were desperately trying to escape danger, firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, paramedics, Port Authority officers and countless other emergency responders ran directly toward it.
They climbed the stairs. They entered the smoke. They searched through the rubble. They treated the injured. They carried strangers to safety.
They answered the call knowing they might never make it home.
343 FDNY firefighters were lost that day, along with members of law enforcement, EMS and other emergency services. In the years that followed, many more first responders, recovery workers and survivors lost their lives or became seriously ill because of their service at Ground Zero.
For those of us who wear a uniform, carry a radio, climb aboard an engine or ambulance, or answer the call when someone needs help, September 11th will forever mean something deeply personal.
Today, on the 25th Anniversary of 9/11, we remember every innocent life taken, every family forever changed and every first responder who answered the call without hesitation.
Different uniforms. Different badges. Different responsibilities.
But on September 11, 2001, there was only one mission: SAVE LIVES.
We honor their courage.
We remember their sacrifice.
We carry their legacy every time the tones drop and we answer the call.
