There has been a lot accomplished during the 5 years that Chief Anselmo has run our department. New equipment, new apparatus, and a brand new station, just to name a few things. We decided an appropriate gift this year was the coveted brass axe. We actually got some tears from the guy. The plaque says "Sun Valley Fire District - Randall Anselmo - Fire Chief - Dedicated Leader and Friend". Congrats Chief!

As part of our day in Phoenix yesterday as a department, a few of us went to the Hall of Flame Fire Museum. I've been there many times and love to take other firefighters there for their first visit. Their reaction when they walk in is always fun to see. Like a kid in a candy store, but at the same time humbled as they look at the history in front of them and the sacrifices made by those who came before.

The Sun Valley Community Association will be having a community clean up on Saturday, August 13th at Fire Station #2 starting at 9:00 a.m. This is a great opportunity for residents to clean up their properties.

Disposal of paint, oil, batteries, asbestos, refrigerators, medical waste, railroad ties, fluorescent light bulbs, Freon, and 55 gallon drums is prohibited.
