Wow - Sun Lakes and the southeast valley turned out this weekend- at our April Shred-a-Thon and Drug Takeback event, the numbers speak for themselves- 18 tons of shredded materials taken in, close to 600 cars accessing the event, and approximately 1 ton of surrendered medications, prescription medications, prescription narcotics, and over-the-counter meds boxed and ready for destruction. Our Commander had the great opportunity to show off the Stetson as well!! 😆

Good morning Sun Lakes - last night, the Sheriff’s Office held a recognition ceremony for volunteerism, reserve deputies, posse, and cadets. Sun Lakes Posse, and several of its members, were recognized for outstanding contributions, years of service, humanitarianism, and individual service to the community, the county, and to the Office. We are proud to serve, and proud to represent Sun Lakes!

Whew! Been a busy week for SLSP!

Last Thursday was a great night at an elementary school trunk-or-treat…

Saturday was the semi-annual Shred event/Drug take back event - a record breaking event with over 400 cars, 20,000 pounds of shredded items, and 19 boxes of medications/pills/etc. out of circulation!!!!

Today - SLSP, in conjunction with our Enforcement Support division members and our partners at Costco, delivered over $3000 worth of supplies and water to the Globe/Miami communities in eastern AZ to help with the continuing efforts that area has in recovering from recent flooding. The monetary component of this gift was from $1600 in community donations at our Shred event, a $1000 gift from American Family Insurance, a $100 gift card donation from Costco, and $400 from SLSP. SLSP has collected/donated over $5000 to-date to the Globe/Miami recovery efforts.

Thank you Sun Lakes and all community members from all over the valley for making this possible!

The Sun Lakes Sheriff’s Posse extends all thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, fellow officers and citizens of Apache Junction on this somber evening. We ask that those in the entire valley and across the State keep Officer Facio’s family in your prayers.

Sun Lakes - meet your brand new unit - the 2024 Tahoe, a/k/a The Rocket. This ride is gorgeous - and safe! She was out and about yesterday on her inaugural patrol in the area.
Why a big SUV? They are tactically more advantageous, can hold more gear, and can maneuver in off-road conditions better than smaller vehicles…
No…they are not for “movie-style” pursuits or car chases - those situations (very rare) are for traffic interdiction units - cycles, mustangs, etc.
