Children’s reading and activity books were delivered to Tonya Nelson, Ed Data Coordinator and Ed Volunteer Liason, at Banner Del Webb Hospital by Carole Bakken and Pattii DeBlasi. The books are given to children who are waiting or are being treated in the ER. Since December 2017 over 2,100 books have been donated on an as needed basis. This is our Kiwanis Young Children’s Priority One Project.

AZ. Pictured is Club President Pattii DeBlasi, Wish Mom Jessica, and
Wish Kid Nikolas whose wish was “to meet the Pope”. This wonderful organization sent mom and Nikolas to Rome where Nikolas did meet the Pope! A $500 grant was presented to Lee Greenfield, not pictured, the Director of Corporate, Foundation & Legacy Giving at Make-A-Wish AZ.

Emergency Room and Pediatric Staff members at Banner Del Webb Medical Center accepted a book donation from Dave and Carole Bakken, members of the Kiwanis Club of Sun City West, on Wednesday September 19. Chapter books, Spanish language, age appropriate reading and activity books with crayons are donated on a quarterly basis to the Pediatric Emergency Room for patients who are waiting for treatment. This is the Kiwanis Club’s ongoing Young Children’s
Priority One Program.

Our club supports the Salvation Army’s children’s programs in our community. President Pattii DeBlasi presented Captain Kathy Merritt, Salvation Army Sun Cities Corp, a $1,000 check for the Back to School Clothing Program, and a $1,000 check for the Salvation Army Summer Camp for underprivileged children in the Phoenix area.
