"Our mission is to protect life and property and to enhance the well-being of all those we serve." Arizona Fire & Medical Authority officially formed under a Joint Power Authority (JPA) on July 1, 2017. To date Sun Lakes Fire District and North County Fire & Medical District are member agencies. Both organizations are Fire Districts, however JPAs can include any federal, state, county or local fir
e agencies. Although JPAs have been in use for many years they are new to our state, Central Arizona Fire & Medical Authority was the first JPA of its kind in Arizona, and was formed in October of 2015. CAFMA’s member agencies include Central Yavapai and Chino Valley Fire Districts. JPAs are a legal agreement between two or more public agencies that share a common goal and want to jointly implement programs, build facilities, or deliver services. Together member agencies cut costs by reducing or eliminating overlapping services and sharing resources, which promotes an economy of scale and efficiency. As individual fire departments continue to struggle with the ever-increasing costs associated with public safety, JPAs offer financial stability and efficiency by working together under one organization through shared services.
