Southshore Branch Libr A variety of programs for all ages are offered each month.

Opened in October of 2006, the 40,000 square foot SouthShore Regional Library offers a wide variety of materials including books, magazines, online databases, music & DVDs for children, teens and adults - in both English and in Spanish. There are 24 public Internet access computers as well as wireless Internet service available throughout the library. The library has a large community room as well

as smaller meeting rooms of varying sizes available for community and non-profit groups. The Genealogy Center offers computer workstations, print and online resources for genealogical research. The Children's Library, decorated in a Florida wildlife theme, offers the library's youngest visitors books, magazines, media and computers for fun and learning. Learn the art of storytelling and become a storyteller yourself! This year, we will have 6 locations with 6 weeks of learning about the art of Storytelling with professional storytellers from Hillsborough County. Join us for live workshops in the libraries starting in January to learn through performances, instruction, and the opportunity to submit your storytelling video to be highlighted on the library's YouTube channel. This program is recommended for students in grades 3-8 and is limited to 15 participants per workshop series. Register at a branch near you: HCPLC.org/Storytelling.

School librarian Amanda Jones has been named to the Time100 Next list, Time magazine’s spotlight on the world’s most influential rising stars.

Jones—who was recognized in 2021 as School Librarian of the Year by School Library Journal for her work at a Louisiana middle school—has become a national voice for intellectual freedom and democracy. Facing the fight head-on, she became one of the first librarians in the U.S. to file a defamation lawsuit against her detractors.

One of our founding members here with the Friends of the SouthShore Regional Library has passed away today. Frances Hereford, one of the most active volunteers ever, she was involved in so many nonprofit organizations that she knew everyone, and was influencial in so many ways. She will be missed!
