This Memorial Day, we honor the service members who gave their lives in defense of freedom, democracy, and the enduring promise of human dignity. They served and sacrificed alongside Americans of every race, religion, gender identity, orientation, and background. They fought not only for some of us, but for all of us, and for the belief that liberty, equality, and justice must belong to every person who calls this country home.

The State Democratic Party Advocacy Committee just sent out their WA DEMS 2027 Survey on legislative priorities. This survey gets compiled and will be used to focus advocacy efforts on what constituents believe are the priority issues for the 2027 legislative session.

If you have 10 minutes to spare, please take some time and fill out the survey. Your delegates to the State Democratic Convention, which happens in June, have just spent a bunch of time over the last few weeks reading through the proposed party platform and proposing amendments, additions, and deletions; and resolutions to be presented and hopefully accepted on behalf of the Dems to tell our elected reps what we want them to work on in 2027 and beyond. Having your feedback via this survey, on top of those efforts, is really instrumental to forward progress.

If you select "other" for any of your choices, please be as complete, specific, and straight-forward as possible!

Thank you so much in advance for your help!!

This form was created and approved by the WSDCC Advocacy Committee. Please fill it out and let us know what is most important to you for the 2027 Legislative Session. This survey should take about 10 minutes to complete.

MEETING TONIGHT! Please join us in person at the Marion Grange Hall in Buckley or online via ZOOM (link in this post) as we spend the evening getting to know one another and discussing what *YOU* would like to see the 31st LD Dems do as an organization this year.

For members with voting privileges we will also be approving our yearly budget, appointing a fundraising chair, and doing some other business that requires a vote from the membership so please show up and flex those voting muscles!

IF you aren't yet a member but would like to be, just $31 a year gets you all the voting privileges and status as a member in good standing of the 31st LD Democrats, and you get to help steer the direction of the organization from who we endorse, what resolutions we back, what projects we focus on, and how we allocate our budget to lots of other important decisions throughout the year. Plus, your membership dues (and any recurring donations if you're so inclined -- not required but always appreciated!) help us have the funds to help support local campaigns and projects like the ones we'll see in important election years like 2026! Membership is immediate, and join now to secure your voting privileges for February!

We don’t have a regular monthly meeting in December, but we DO have a party! We’ve all worked so hard this year, now it’s time to connect, socialize, break bread and toast 2025 and all that we put into it. Please join us for an evening of friends and fun!

We will be gathering at the Marion Grange Hall at 27725 Sumner Buckley Highway from 6-8pm on Saturday, December 6th! The 31st LD will be providing a home-roasted ham and turkey as an entree, and the rest of the dinner is potluck! Your contribution to the meal is determined by the first letter of your last name:

A-D: Dessert!
E-H: Chips/Dips, Pretzels, Etc.
I-L: A Hot Side Dish
M-P: Water, Soda, or Other Nonalcoholic Beverages
Q-T: A Cold Side Dish
U-Z: Wine or Other Alcoholic Beverage

Instead of a white elephant gift exchange, we are collecting donations for two local food banks that serve our communities and are certainly seeing more visitors this year due to the workings of the government and the state of the economy. We will be collecting monetary donations for the Orting Food Bank, and food donations for the Buckley Food Bank. If you are able and would like to participate, please bring your donations with you to the party.

We hope you’re able to make it — festive/colorful/cheery/”ugly” holiday sweaters or attire encouraged! Let’s see those snappy dressers!

Happy holidays!

It's Primary Election season! You should have received your ballot in the mail by now and if you haven't filled it out and turned it in, you wouldn't be alone -- fewer than 12% of registered voters in Pierce County and under 18.5% in King County are returning their ballots. Now more than ever, your vote can make a huge difference for our endorsed candidates that appear on this primary ballot. Are you registered, but can't find your ballot? You can print a replacement ballot.
