A multi-agency / multi-jurisdiction team for extended incidents formed and managed at the state, regional or metropolitan level

https://www.usfa.fema.gov/training/imt/imt_overview.html The Low Country Incident Management Team (IMT) serves Beaufort, Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester, Jasper, Hampton, Colleton, Bamberg, Orangeburg and Calhoun counties and will respond to incidents in other portions

of the state upon need/request. All-Hazard IMTs were derived from the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the Incident Command System (ICS), both of which started principally after the breakdowns in the response and recovery efforts to hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The concept- To assemble a trained team that can immediately respond to a major, widespread emergency or catastrophic event anywhere in the nation, and help manage any incident that would extend to multiple days. That could include a tornado, flood, terrorist event or a planned mass gathering.

'All-Hazards' refers any incident or event where the team is composed of individuals from various disciplines, including police, fire, public health, public works, public information, planning and emergency medical.

SC Forestry Commission urging vigilance against wildfire this week🚨🔥

With forecasts calling for low relative humidity and high wind speeds across the state Tuesday and Wednesday, the South Carolina Forestry Commission is encouraging the public to exercise the utmost vigilance when conducting outdoor burns of any kind.

These conditions create a greater-than-average potential for outdoor fires to escape easily and spread rapidly, taking longer – and more of our firefighting resources – to contain and ultimately control.

“We’ve had several dry days and have seen wildfire ignitions begin to increase,” said SCFC Fire Chief Darryl Jones. “With the dry front passing through, there will be an increased risk from conducting debris burns and prescribed burns until conditions begin to improve later this week. If you don’t have to burn over the next several days, please consider postponing burning." Well, intensity forecasting continues to be a huge challenge as Isaias strengthened to a hurricane overnight. At this time (emphasis on the present), models are generally in a agreement that Hurricane Isaias will be a fasting moving storm as it passes the SC coast overnight Sunday and into Monday. EMD will continue to provide periodic updates until further notice. There is still uncertainty regarding specific impacts to our area.
