We are proud to recognize our 2026 scholarship recipients. The caliber of this year’s students is both impressive and encouraging, reflecting the talent, dedication, and leadership found throughout our community. Meet Kai -->

Kai Bergmann is a graduate of Fort Dorchester High School, where she excelled academically and served in numerous leadership roles. During high school, she was Student Body Vice President, President of the National Honor Society, and Captain of both the Varsity Swim Team and Mock Trial Team. She also served as HOSA Fundraising Coordinator, organizing service projects and community outreach efforts.

Kai’s passion for global engagement led her to study abroad in Germany for a semester, further developing her language skills and cultural understanding. Her achievements include earning the South Carolina Bronze Seal of Biliteracy in German and receiving recognition in regional and state Mock Trial competitions.

This fall, Kai will attend the University of South Carolina (Go C***s!) to pursue a degree in Industrial Engineering with a minor in German. She hopes to combine her interests in innovation, problem-solving, and intercultural communication to make a positive impact in her future career.

As these outstanding students take the next step in their educational journeys, we are excited to celebrate their achievements and look forward to seeing the impact they will make in the years ahead. Congratulations to each of our scholarship recipients on this well-deserved honor.

This week, our team had the opportunity to tour Bonaire Park Summerville and see firsthand the remarkable progress being made on this transformational downtown development.

As a nearly $47 million investment in the heart of Summerville, Bonaire Park represents the type of thoughtful growth that strengthens our local economy while enhancing the community's appeal to residents and visitors alike.

One of the highlights of the tour was stepping onto the rooftops of the luxury row homes and short-term accommodations. The views across downtown Summerville were already beautiful—and they'll only become more impressive as the development continues to take shape and the surrounding spaces come to life.

With exciting retail and restaurant announcements on the horizon, Bonaire Park is creating a destination within a destination. The project is thoughtfully designed to bring together hospitality, dining, shopping, and gathering spaces that will serve both residents and visitors for years to come.

We are grateful for developers and investors who continue to believe in our community and are committed to creating places that support local businesses, encourage economic growth, and enhance the quality of life in Summerville. And big kudos to the general contractors on the site, Gilbert + Lee Construction.
