No ice is safe ice.
USACE Dams and Reservoirs are designed to manage water flow. Water levels are always subject to change, making ice brittle and prone to cracking. Ice thickness may be variable, and ice can conceal underwater hazards such as stumps and riprap. Regardless of temperatures, no ice should be considered 100% safe. If you find yourself on the ice, remember to wear your life jacket and bring tools adequate for self-rescue.
Vehicles, ATV’s and snow mobiles are only allowed on designated roadways, not on the frozen lake surface.
