📣We would like to welcome back Rose Gann to the SES Family💙🐾💛

Mrs. Gann had been with us a couple years ago and then transitioned to the middle school. However, she will coming back to SES to serve as a special education paraprofessional.

She is married to her husband, Daniel and they have two daughters, Kylie and Crimson. Kylie is newly engaged to her fiancé, Will. Crimson and her husband, Colin have a son, Cohen. Mrs. Gann says that Cohen is the most important little guy in her life and he loves big trucks and tractors.

When she’s not spending time with her family, she enjoys photography. Sports photography is her favorite, but she has recently been branching out into other types of photography as well. She also loves creating balloon arches and garlands for special events and celebrations. Most recently, she has started dabbling in painting banners, which has been a fun new creative outlet for her.

Mrs, Gann says, “I am looking forward to reconnecting with old friends, meeting new ones, and making this a great school year. I can't wait to see all of your smiling faces!”

📣We would like to welcome Trista Holder to the SES Family in another role💙🐾💛

Many of you recognize her as one of our lunchroom ladies, but now she will serve as a member of our Sanitation Engineering Department.

Mrs. Trista says, “I love getting all the hugs from the kids and seeing their smiling faces each day at Sumiton Elementary School. Helping students learn, grow, and feel loved is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.”

Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family. She is married and has two children. They keep her very busy with sports, school events, and all kinds of activities, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. Family time is very important to her and she enjoys making memories with the people she loves the most.

We are excited to still have Trista Holder as a part of the Bulldog Family and are looking forward to a great year as well as shiny floors!💙💛

📣We would like to welcome Elizabeth Harrison to the SES Family💙🐾💛

Mrs. Harrison will serve as one of our Pre-K Auxiliary teachers.

She is a newlywed to her husband, Micah, and a proud mother to her almost two-year-old son, Damien Ramos. They are both her greatest blessings and her biggest sources of encouragement.

Mrs. Harrison says, “I am eager to see all the lessons this year will bring and to make a positive impact on the students I serve.”

Mrs. Swindle is a certified elementary teacher with 18 years experience and will serve as one of our Kindergarten teachers.

She is married to her husband, Jimmy and they have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Outside of school, Mrs. Swindle enjoys reading, being outside, spending time with family and friends, game nights and naps.

Mrs. Swindle says, “My favorite part of teaching is seeing the spark in their little eyes when they realize that they really can read.”

📣We would like to welcome Callie Defore to the SES Family💙🐾💛

Mrs. Defore is a certified elementary teacher with 8 years experience and will serve as one of our 1st Grade teachers.

She is married to her husband, John, and they have a six month old son, Finley. Outside of school, Mrs. Defore enjoys reading, crafting, and napping when time allows for it.

Mrs. Defore says, “I am thrilled to meet everyone and see what the upcoming year holds.”

📣We would like to welcome Haleigh Deskins to the SES Family💛🐾💙

Ms. Deskins will be serving as one of our Speech Language Pathologists. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Alabama in 2018 and her Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Samford University in 2024.

She has worked at a private practice in Jasper for the past 2 years before transitioning into SES. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and reading.

Ms. Deskins says, “I love helping preschool and elementary students build their early language and articulation skills through fun, play-based therapy.”

📣We would like to welcome McKenzie Maury to the SES Famiy💛🐾💙

Ms. Maury is a certified teacher and will be starting her sixth year in education. She will serve as one of our Reading Specialists. Ms. Maury says, “I love helping students grow into confident, successful readers as this is one of the most rewarding parts of my career, and I love watching children discover a passion for reading.”

She is the proud mom of an amazing, two-year-old daughter, Ila Rae, as she keeps her on her toes with her smart, sweet and wild personality. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Maury enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with her family.

Ms. Maury says, “I am looking forward to an exciting school year and cannot wait to get started!”

Mrs. Sands is a certified elementary teacher and has been teaching for nine years. She will be serving as one of our 3rd Grade teachers. She graduated from Athens State University in 2014.

She is married and has two children. Outside of school, Mrs. Sands enjoys spending time with her family. They love the outdoors! They enjoy riding, hunting, fishing, or just playing in the yard. She says her absolute favorite place is the beach because it is so peaceful and beautiful!

Mrs. Sands says, “I’m very excited to start this school year with my 3rd graders and have a fun filled year full of learning and growing!”

📣We would like to welcome Josh Moore to the SES Family💛🐾💙

Coach Moore is no stranger to the Sumiton community as he has been at Sumiton Middle School for the past 11 years as well as coached multiple sports. He currently coaches archery and enjoys helping students develop healthy habits, confidence, and teamwork.

He has been married for 11 years and has two beautiful daughters. In his free time, Coach Moore enjoys lifting weights and walking on the track.

Coach Moore says, “I look forward to a great year at Sumiton Elementary School!”
