Shortly before the end of the school day, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a suspicious note found by students inside a classroom at Sultan Middle School referencing a bomb threat dated tomorrow. The incident was reported to the school administration and immediately reported to the Sultan School District Resource Officer. Out of an abundance of caution, all teachers, staff, and any remaining individuals on campus were evacuated from the building for an initial safety sweep of the school. Bomb technicians are responding to the school to further investigate. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.

2026 Battle of the Badges!

Yesterday, Sultan Police and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies teamed up to take on Fire District 51/Sky Valley Fire in the annual Battle of the Badges charity softball game, all for a great cause.

It was an action-packed day filled with friendly competition, community spirit, and strong support from local fans cheering on both police and fire personnel. In the end, the deputies brought home the trophy once again, keeping the win streak alive.

Most importantly, the event raised scholarship funds for Sultan High School seniors pursuing careers as first responders. We are proud to support the next generation of firefighters, deputies, EMTs, and public safety professionals.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our future heroes.

TRAFFIC SAFETY REMINDERS:
The Sultan Police Department has received several recent traffic-related complaints and would like to remind everyone to help keep our roadways safe for motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and students.

Please remember:

🛑 Stop Means Stop
Drivers are required to come to a complete stop at all stop signs. We have received complaints from citizens who were nearly struck while using crosswalks because vehicles failed to stop properly.

🚒 Keep Fire Hydrants & Signs Clear
Do not park in front of fire hydrants, mailboxes, or too close to stop signs. Parking too close to signs can block visibility and create safety hazards.

🚲 E-Bike Safety
We are receiving complaints regarding unsafe operation of E-Bikes creating hazards for vehicles and pedestrians. We want to ensure everyone’s safety and remind riders to operate responsibly and follow traffic laws.

⚠️ Obey Speed Limits & Passing Laws
Please follow posted speed limits and do not pass vehicles illegally on local roadways or along Hwy 2 within the City of Sultan.

🚫 No Parking Reminder – Date Ave
The signs posted on Date Ave in front of Sultan Elementary School indicate “No Parking” from that sign to 5th Street. Please observe all posted parking restrictions to help maintain safe traffic flow around the school.

🚔 Traffic Emphasis Patrols
The Sultan Police Department has been conducting traffic emphasis patrols throughout the City of Sultan and will continue enforcement efforts on local roadways as well as the portion of Hwy 2 within city limits.

Our goal is to ensure safe roadways for everyone in our community. Thank you for doing your part to help keep Sultan safe.

Around noon today, Snohomish County 911 received multiple calls reporting a vehicle driving recklessly along Hwy 2 and nearly causing several collisions. Callers also reported the driver was making threats to kill individuals.

A Sultan deputy located the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop, leading to a pursuit. Deputies successfully deployed spike strips, and the pursuit ended after a PIT maneuver was performed.

The driver was taken into custody and booked for Threats to Kill, Reckless Driving, and Attempting to Elude.

Thank you to Monroe Police Department and the Washington State Patrolfor their assistance. Great work by our east county teams today.

East county deputies rescued two 13-year-old boys from the river Monday at Sportsman’s Park. As temperatures rise, remember that rivers remain extremely dangerous this time of year due to fast currents, sudden drop-offs, and cold water that can quickly overwhelm even strong swimmers. Please wear a properly fitted life jacket, supervise children closely near the water, and call 911 immediately in an emergency.

Congratulations to Sultan's School Resource Officer (SRO) Deputy Kevin Lynch!

Unused prescription drugs can end up in the wrong hands and create dangerous situations in our community. That is why we are proud to share that Saturday’s Drug Take Back event at Sultan PD was a big success, with 75 pounds of medications collected and shipped to the DEA.

This nationwide effort gives people a safe, anonymous way to dispose of unused or expired medications and help prevent misuse.
