🚨 REMINDER: THIS WEDNESDAY!

Jack Curtis has taken legal action challenging how the City of Sulphur Springs approved agreements for the Thermo data center project, including decisions involving public land, taxpayer incentives, and infrastructure commitments.

This Wednesday, the court will hear legal challenges from the City that could determine whether, and how, Jack’s claims can move forward.

I watched the video Councilman Jay Julian shared showing the ongoing work at Thermo, and I appreciate him keeping the public informed.

But honestly, watching it just left me worried.

Why are we continuing to invest millions of taxpayer dollars into infrastructure for a project that still has so much uncertainty?

We have ongoing litigation involving the property, unanswered questions about the development, and no publicly confirmed guarantee that this project will ever materialize.

Yet we continue spending.

I understand that infrastructure improvements can benefit future development. But we’re talking about reportedly 18-inch water lines and 21-inch sewer lines being installed to accommodate a very specific type and scale of development.

And before someone says another company could use that infrastructure if the data center doesn’t happen, I would ask: What other realistic development would require infrastructure of this size? And how long might taxpayers wait for that development to arrive?

I’m not against economic development. I’m against taking unnecessary financial risks with taxpayer money.

I want our community to grow and prosper. But I also want us to make responsible decisions, especially when millions of dollars are involved.

Why can’t we pause long enough to get some certainty before we spend even more?

I genuinely don’t understand why that isn’t a reasonable expectation.

🐾❤️ LET’S HELP SOME FOUR-LEGGED FRIENDS! ❤️🐾

If you’ll remember, I recently shared that I’d like to occasionally use this page to highlight opportunities to help right here in Hopkins County…a little less gloom and little more bloom 🌺

Well, this one is especially near and dear to my heart! ❤️

If you know me, you know I’m a HUGE animal lover! Between our 5 dogs, 2 cats, and a bearded dragon, we’ve got quite the little zoo. And I’d probably have more if I could find somewhere to put them! 😂

But not every animal is so fortunate.

This local rescue, Heartsoflife Animalrescue, has had only ONE dedicated dog foster in THREE YEARS! 💔

These dogs spend most of their days in pens, just waiting for someone to give them a chance.

And here’s the wonderful part: Fostering costs you nothing financially! The rescue provides the necessities. You just provide a safe home and some love. ❤️

You don’t have to be retired or home all day. Even someone working full-time can make an incredible difference.

And when you foster one dog, you open up space to rescue another!

I know not everyone can foster, but maybe you can volunteer, donate, or simply share their post.

We have thousands of people following this page. Surely we can help find a few loving homes! 🐶

Please take a minute to read their post below.

Sometimes making our community better starts with simply opening our hearts…and maybe our homes. ❤️🐾j

📂 DID YOU KNOW I HAVE A DOCUMENT LIBRARY?

For those who have started following this page more recently, I wanted to share something you may not know about!

Over the past year, I’ve accumulated a significant amount of documentation related to the proposed data center project, including public records, agreements, correspondence, court filings, and more.

Because pages don’t allow file uploads, I created a separate Facebook group where I share some of these documents, including records that directly support information I’ve shared in posts on this page.

It’s not a complete collection of everything I’ve obtained. Some files are simply too large for FB, but it’s a great resource for anyone who wants to dig deeper, review the evidence, and draw their own conclusions.

I’ll also admit I’ve gotten a little behind on uploading documents from time to time! 😊 If there’s something you’ve seen me reference in a post but can’t find in the group, drop a comment below and I’ll see if I can get it uploaded.

📁 You can find the group here ⬇️

SULPHUR SPRINGS PLANNING & ZONING MEETING TONIGHT!

6:00 PM
City Hall - 201 N. Davis Street

A few items on the agenda:

• Preliminary plat approval for Martinez Townhomes Addition.

• Preliminary plat approval for Putman Street Bright Star Apartments.

• Public hearing and discussion on rezoning 16.94 acres at 1330 Jefferson Street from Light Commercial to Light Industrial.

• Discussion and possible action on the City’s Zoning Ordinance based on the proposed Comprehensive Plan.

That last item is particularly worth paying attention to, as the Comprehensive Plan and zoning regulations help shape future development in Sulphur Springs.

I’ve attached the full agenda for anyone interested in attending or following along.

❤️ SOME GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING IN HOPKINS COUNTY, TOO! ❤️

With so much attention on the issues facing our community lately, I thought it would be nice to occasionally highlight some of the wonderful organizations helping our neighbors.

One of those organizations is Feeding Neighbors in Hopkins County!

They provide FREE food, clothing, household items, and everyday essentials to local families.

🛍️ Their next FREE MARKET is October 31, and they’re running low on donations!

Have clothes your kids have outgrown? Kitchen items collecting dust? Toys nobody plays with anymore?

Something you no longer need could make a real difference for someone right here in Hopkins County.

If you’re able to donate, wonderful! If not, sharing their information is another way to help.

I’ve said many times that Hopkins County is worth fighting for.

And sometimes fighting for our community isn’t about standing up AGAINST something. It’s about standing up FOR someone. ❤️

Please check out their page! And if you know of other local organizations doing great things, feel free to share them in the comments.

I’ll give credit where it’s due. I’m thankful CyrusOne appears to be taking a more upfront and transparent approach with our community. 👏
