Sullivan Fire Protection District Junior Firefighters The Junior Program offers a unique experience to teens ages 14 to 18. The Junior Program started over 20 years ago. Junior Program has the ages of 14-18.

They get to participate in duties within the district, train, and respond to emergencies along side your career and volunteer firefighters. Many of the Juniors have stayed from the time they were 13 years old to when they got a full time job in the fire service. They fire service is different from any other job, you are close together and you make many friends out of it. Most jobs you don't get an

other family out of it. You come to love the job and love the people in it. If you stick to it you will be able to become a volunteer and volunteer your time for the community and maybe become a full time firefighter at other districts.

Sullivan Firefighters Encourage Winter Prep for Your Home

With the weather cooling down, now is the perfect time to get your home ready for winter. Did you know most house fires occur during the colder months?

The Sullivan Firefighters are here to remind you that simple steps now can make a big difference in keeping your home safe this winter.

Here are some helpful tips to get started:
1. Check your heating systems - Have your furnace, chimney, and space heaters inspected to ensure they’re safe and functioning properly.
2. Inspect your smoke detectors - Test and replace batteries to keep them working in case of an emergency.
3. Clear vents and exhausts - Make sure your dryer vents and other exhausts are free of debris and snow buildup.
4. Check for fire hazards - Keep flammable items away from heat sources and ensure your fireplace is clean and safe to use.
5. Prepare for power outages - Stock up on essentials like flashlights, batteries, and a battery-powered radio.
