UPDATE (9/10/2026): Due to todays rain, the project start date will now be Friday, September 11, 2026.

Paving Project Notice – Starting Thursday, September 10, 2026

The City of Sullivan will begin a street paving project on Thursday, September 10, 2026. Residents may notice milling operations starting as early as Thursday, September 10, which will be minimally disruptive.

Scheduled Paving Work Areas:

Day 1 (Sept. 14): Peach Tree Ln., Bud St. from Alden Dr. to Old Radio Station Road, Alden Dr., George St. from Alden Dr. to end of street.

Day 2 (Sept. 15): Alma St., Buffalo St., Bell Ave from Springfield to Pine St., Thurmond Memorial Dr.

Day 3 (Sept. 16): S. Church from E. Vine to W. Washington St, W. Washington St.

Milling is expected to be completed in one day, with paving to follow according to the schedule above.

Please use caution in these areas and follow any posted signage or directions from crews.

Please note: This schedule is weather dependent and may be adjusted as needed. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our city streets!

The City of Sullivan's annual Fall City-Wide Cleanup is scheduled for October 5-9, 2026.

Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars now. Additional information, including pickup guidelines and accepted items, will be announced closer to the event.

Update: Prairie St is now open.

Attention: Prairie St will be closed to through traffic, until tomorrow (8/13/2026), due to a tree blocking the street. Please use caution when driving in that area.

Update: Crews have restored power to most areas of Sullivan. Some people may still be experiencing electrical outages due to individual property damage.

IMPORTANT UPDATE
The City of Sullivan is experiencing a city wide power outage due storm damage to a transmission line from our power supplier. They are working to restore power at this time. We believe this may take a few hours.

Thank You Sullivan Bank!

Sullivan Bank Presents Check To City of Sullivan Tuesday Night

Through a $10,000 contribution from Sullivan Bank and a $30,000 matching grant from the FHLB Des Moines Member Impact Fund, the City of Sullivan will receive $40,000 to support ADA accessibility improvements to local playgrounds, helping create welcoming spaces for all members of the community.
The donation presentation was made prior to the meeting of the Sullivan City Council Tuesday night, August 4.

The City of Sullivan Municipal Court scheduled for Wednesday, July 8, 2026 has been cancelled. All cases scheduled for July 8, 2026 will be passed to the August 12, 2026 court date.
