Air Force Sergeants Association

Air Force Sergeants Association AFSA is the Air Force enlisted organization dedicated to the people behind the stripes.

This page is the official Facebook presence of the Air Force Sergeants Association and is managed by HQ AFSA.
We reserve the right to terminate your access to this forum at any time. The men and women behind the high-tech machinery, the military protocol, the daring maneuvers ... the people who have invested their lives in the cause of freedom in America. Each year Congre

ss makes hundreds of decisions on issues that directly affect the lives of enlisted people and their families. Important issues such as medical care, job security, salaries, commissary privileges, and other benefits. There was a time when the voice of the enlisted Airman was nowhere to be heard ... until the Spring of l96l when a handful of men came together to form the Air Force Sergeants Association. AFSA is an international organization dedicated to speaking out on behalf of enlisted Air Force personnel and today, with nearly 135,000 AFSA members, the voice of the enlisted rings strong on Capitol Hill. We defend the rights of those who defend our nation.

Family Matters Friday with Carey Crance, AFSA Family Matters Trustee | As I said before, we have an awesome group of FMTs within our divisions. Some are civilian spouses who have never worn a uniform, while others were service members themselves. Having a mixture of both can help us see all sides to get a better understanding of what the needs truly are.

I’d like you all to meet our Division 1 FMT, Karin Staats. She is a prior Air Force member and has served the Air Force Sergeants Association in several positions. Now serves as the FMT with Division 1 and has for a number of years. Karin has been attending the International Conventions every year since 1983. Now retired from the Air Force, she is still supporting those in uniform.

We want to increase FMT numbers across all divisions. However, if you are in Division 1, please reach out to Karin or your Division President, Jackie Chapin, for more information about becoming an FMT at your chapter.

Have an amazing weekend!

Family Matters Friday with Carey Crance, AFSA Family Matters Trustee. Our AFSA HQ staff has been hard at work making sure we ALL know about the upcoming Summit. Our Summit 365 team has also been putting in some work! They have been showing you a little preview of what to expect. If you haven’t checked out their page…go check it out.

Now, I have to ask: since we will be heading off to Orlando, how many of you will be bringing your spouse? Come on, I know a few of you will be. While our service members are receiving vital professional development, there IS something for our spouses as well. Have you seen the information about Ascent?

This will be development for our spouses. They will receive continuing education to help build their toolbox. Having the right tools is key to strengthening our military spouses.

There is a limited number of seats available for Ascent. I encourage you to register early. This is going to be amazing!

Equipping military spouses with leadership tools that strengthen families, units, and communities.

Family Matters Friday w/Carey Crance, AFSA Family Matters Trustee | Happy Friday AFSA FAM! How is summer treating you? Days are getting hotter and longer, but it’s a perfect time to connect.

That is exactly what AFSA Chapter 1550 has been doing. They have been where their families are, where possible future airmen are. They have been at community events, such as Eagle Scout ceremonies. They are showing their community that AFSA is supporting more than the military members. They also helped congratulate 3… yes, 3 JROTC students on their dedication and leadership. Not only are they reaching out to their community, but they are also supporting the dorm airmen. They have an event coming up next week to feed the dorm airmen while offering them a mentorship opportunity. If you are stationed at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, check out their page for more information.

Chapter 1550: Thank you for being here, there, and everywhere. You are showing up and showing what AFSA can do.

The gap between 'authorized support' and 'actual help' is where burnout lives.

It’s called the Respite Paradox: 68% of military families don't utilize the support they're entitled to. When the official system stalls, burnout shouldn't be the inevitable result. Your family’s readiness depends on more than just paperwork: it depends on community.

At Summit 365, we’re here to close that gap.

We believe family readiness is the backbone of mission success. That’s why we provide a community bridge: offering real-world stability, practical mentorship, and a network that doesn’t stall when the official channels feel unreachable.

You’ve served the mission. Let us serve the home front. Together, we’re building a pipeline of leaders who lead with integrity and compassion, strengthening families every day of the year.

Join the community that bridges the gap.

Family Matters Friday with Carey Crance, AFSA Family Matters Trustee | Introducing our Chapter Family Matters Trustees...

As you can tell, I love celebrating those within this Association. Chapters all over are hosting events to reach families to remind people that AFSA is still here, fighting for the QoL of all of our members. We have chapters establishing connections for our families through bowling, bingo, community dinners, and more. Why are things like this important?

When a service member has a PCS, they are likely to be integrated into their new unit fairly quickly. The service member will meet people within their work center, talk to them as they are in-processing, and connect with someone who has helped them through this process. Spouses don't have this kind of system set up. It can be harder for the spouse to meet people. Here is where AFSA and FMTs can come into play.

When we do our hales and farewells at our chapter meetings, are we including our families? This is a perfect opportunity to engage the families, get them in contact with the FMT at the new chapter, or if they are the new family, introduce them to the FMT. This is a great way to remind our members that we are here for more than just the service member.

I've asked this before, and I'll ask again. If you are an FMT at the chapter level OR Division level, please comment below. I'll go first.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great week, and thank you!
