Lt. Lee Slemmer, EMT, Firefighter

I have wanted to be a firefighter since I was a young kid. We grew up in the fire department, as my dad was Assistant Chief for Strasburg. I got my fire card in 2001 and then went to EMT school in 2003. I then went back to school in 2017 for my Level 1 Fire and currently serve as a Lieutenant on the department. I enjoy helping others and giving back to the community. Each shift brings different challenges and its truly an honor to be a part of someone's story.

Outside of the department, I work at Progressive Foam Technologies. I enjoy vacationing in North Carolina with my family, bird watching and working in our garden. I also help out with my daughter's softball team, The Lady Pumas 14U. I've been married to my wife, Heather, for almost 14 years and I have 2 daughters Cali and Sofia.

Captain Austin Weaver

“Austin continually goes above and beyond to serve the department and community; from assisting with smoke detector installs to training new members of the department and community members in life safety skills! We are a stronger and better department because of Austin and all his hard work! “
- Assistant Chief Shetler

I began my journey with Sugarcreek Fire & Rescue in 2017 while I was still a senior at Garaway High School.

Since then, I have earned certifications as a Firefighter, Paramedic, Fire Safety Inspector, Fire & Emergency Services Instructor, and Fire Investigator.

In 2021, I started my full-time career with the Dover Fire Department, while continuing to proudly serve Sugarcreek Fire & Rescue as both a part-time and volunteer member.

Outside of the fire service, I hold a General Class Amateur Radio License and enjoy traveling out west each year to chase and document severe weather. I also enjoy fishing and sitting around a campfire with family and friends.

I am incredibly proud to be a part of Sugarcreek Fire & Rescue and grateful for the opportunity to provide the highest quality care and service to our community and its visitors every day.

Thank you Austin!

Seth Greegor Paramedic, Firefighter

I started hanging out, while in high school, at the Dalton Volunteer Fire Department when my brother joined. Then I decided to join the fire department myself right out of high school in 2001. It eventually changed to East Wayne Fire District where I worked for several years and made rank of Lieutenant. I also spent 17 years working for Smith Ambulance. I started working for Sugarcreek in 2017 and became full time in 2024. I also currently work part time for Marshallville and Canal Fulton Fire. When I'm not at work I enjoy spending time with my family and grilling.

Thank you Seth!

Jenn Kougher

22 years ago I knew I wanted to do something for my community. I remember walking into the fire station and got the application process started to become an EMT. Years later I got my fire card, and finally got my Advanced EMT. I have loved giving back to the community all these years.
Little about me. I have an amazing husband and 4 children (16,14, 2,1). I highly enjoy spending time going to Friday night football games, camping with my family, and just being mom. I am employed full time at the Belden Brick Company.

Thank you Jenn!

Geneva Raber- EMT
I have been proudly serving as an EMT for 5 years, and it is truly one of the greatest honors of my life. I am a wife, a mom to 4 amazing children and also the manager of the Dundee Marketplace, but no matter how busy life gets, serving my community will always be so important to me. I believe in showing up selflessly, giving my whole heart, and being there for the people around me when they need it most. My community is the reason I put this uniform on every single day. The faces, the families, the neighbors…they are my why. I am so grateful to be a part of this team and even more grateful to serve the communities I love.

Thank you Geneva!

Bryce Hostetler EMT, Firefighter

I’ve been an EMT for about 3 years and a firefighter for around 5 years. I’m proud to be a third-generation firefighter/EMT at Sugarcreek, following in the footsteps of my dad, aunt, and great uncle. Outside of the fire service, some of my hobbies include watching sprint car racing and cheering on the Cleveland Browns every Sunday. My full-time job is working as a 911 dispatcher for the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, so when I’m not there, there’s a good chance you’ll find me hanging around the fire station!

Thank you Bryce!

Fire Chief, John Meek AEMT, Firefighter ll, Fire and EMS Instructor, Fire Inspector.

I have been a Firefighter for 30 years and EMS for 18 of those years. I am blessed to run on calls with my son Caleb who has been on the department for 3 years.

The greatest enjoyment about EMS is the ability to make a difference in patients lives. Even better than that is seeing the patient when they make a full recovery. I feel it is an honor to serve the Sugarcreek and Ragersville communities. They are always there to help and support the Sugarcreek Fire Department. I am so thankful for that!!

The one memory I have is working with paramedic Marty Huth. That Saturday we ran 7 EMS calls from 7:00 AM- 4:00 PM. When we finish a report for a call we push submit. Every time we pushed submit within 10 minutes we would get paged for another call. After the 5th call we decided to go to Subway for lunch. As we were walking in Marty said he was done with the report and I quickly told him do not push submit till after we eat. We ate and he submitted the report and of course in 2 minutes we were paged for another call.

Outside of the fire department, I am a 7th grade intervention teacher at Garaway 7-12 building completing my 25 year.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my family, gardening, reading, and playing around with my HO model train set.

Fun fact: My family and I made it to our 50th state last year.

Thank you Chief
