Yesterday our newest engine, E776, responded to its very first incident — assisting with a medical rescue at Cleo’s Bath.
To help control costs in our small rural district, we’re now prioritizing our smallest fire engine for appropriate mutual aid calls whenever possible. This approach allows us to continue delivering reliable service while saving in fuel and maintenance of our larger apparatus.

🚨 Important Update from Your Local Fire Protection District 🚨

Good morning! Our fire inspectors are hitting the streets today to begin our annual 4291 defensible space inspections.
These routine checks help protect homes and properties in our district by ensuring properties meet California’s defensible space requirements — the same standards we help CAL FIRE enforce. You may see our uniformed inspectors walking around neighborhoods, checking vegetation clearance, and providing guidance where needed.
✅ This is completely normal and expected every year.
✅ Our goal is wildfire preparedness, not citations.
✅ We’re here to help you make your property safer.
If an inspector visits your property, feel free to ask questions — they’re happy to explain what they’re looking for and how you can improve your defensible space.

While we have been struggling to stay dry, one of our relief captains, Nick Arnett, has been in Georgia as a Medical Unit Leader seeing some extreme fire. The Southern Area Complex Incident Management Team says the Highway 82 fire is at 22,600 acres, still 6% contained.

Protect our beautiful Sierra mountain community (500 calls/year) in Tuolumne County
Role Highlights:
• Lead shifts: 48 hrs on / 96 hrs off
• Respond to fires, medicals, rescues, hazmat
• Drive engines, operate pumps, train volunteers
• Mutual aid deployments up to 3 weeks at a time
Minimum Qualifications:
• Driver/Operator 1A & 1B
• EMT/EMR & CPR/AED
• CA DL w/ Fire Fighter endorsements
• Firefighter 1 (some certs completable in Year 1)
