Attending this morning’s Central Fort Bend Chamber Breakfast in the Bend was a powerful reminder of what makes Fort Bend County so special.

The response was so overwhelming that the event had to be moved to Gino's Italian Joint, and it was wonderful to see the room filled with community leaders, business owners, and neighbors gathered in support of a great cause.

This morning’s program honored Mercy Goods, an organization doing meaningful work by investing in people, creating opportunity, and strengthening lives through craftsmanship, mentoring, and community support. Their mission is a great example of service in action — helping individuals build skills, confidence, and a path forward.

Thank you to the Central Fort Bend Chamber for bringing our community together and to Gino’s Italian Joint for hosting such a large and enthusiastic crowd. Events like this show the heart of Fort Bend County: people showing up, supporting one another, and working together to make our community stronger.

Today I was pleased to attend the Missouri City Chamber of Commerce Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Celebration for Gulf Coast Blood at their new Sienna location.

Gulf Coast Blood plays a vital role in saving and sustaining lives through blood, platelet, and related services. Their presence in Missouri City brings an important lifesaving resource closer to home for Fort Bend County residents and gives our community another opportunity to support those in need.

Ribbon cuttings are more than photo opportunities. They are a chance to show up, support local growth, and welcome organizations that provide meaningful service to our community.

Congratulations to Gulf Coast Blood, the Missouri City Chamber of Commerce, and everyone involved in making this new location possible. We are grateful to have Gulf Coast Blood serving Missouri City and the surrounding Fort Bend County community.

I was pleased to attend this morning’s Fort Bend Regional Business Council meeting at the Fort Bend Regional Partnership.

This forum continues to be an important working table for business, civic, education, and public-sector leaders who are focused on Fort Bend County’s continued growth and long-term prosperity.

Thank you to Union Pacific Railroad for the informative presentation on the proposed Mainline Texas Industrial Park near Rosenberg. The scale of this 2,040-acre rail-served industrial development, its connection to major transportation corridors, and its potential to support logistics, manufacturing, international trade, and job creation are significant for our region.

I also appreciated hearing from Lamar CISD Career and Technical Education about the important work being done to prepare students for high-demand careers. Workforce development is essential to sustaining Fort Bend County’s economic momentum, and strong CTE programs help connect our students with real opportunities for the future.

As Fort Bend County Treasurer, I value opportunities like this to stay engaged with the people, projects, and partnerships shaping our county. Thank you to the Fort Bend Regional Partnership, the featured speakers, and all who participated in today’s discussion.

Yesterday I was honored to attend the Memorial Day Ceremony at Sugar Land Memorial Park, where our community gathered to remember and pay tribute to the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

It was especially meaningful to hear from Governor Greg Abbott as we reflected on the sacrifice of our fallen service members and the enduring responsibility we share to honor their memory. The ceremony included patriotic music, the presentation of colors, a wreath ceremony, a tribute to the fallen soldier, and the solemn raising of the flags observance.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is a sacred reminder that the freedoms we enjoy were secured at a tremendous cost. I am grateful to the City of Sugar Land, the veterans, active-duty service members, first responders, Scouts, musicians, volunteers, and all who helped make this ceremony a dignified and moving tribute.

May we never forget those who gave all.
