We are so proud of STCS alumna Sophia Phalen, who has been named a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist!

Congratulations, Sophia, on this outstanding academic achievement. Your STCS Griffin family is celebrating with you! 💙💛

This week officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of over 16,000 Semifinalists in the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $24 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.

SJ23 is pleased to announce Giovanni Hoang and Sophia Phalen as Semifinalists for the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. Congratulations!

❤️ Rock the Red for Milo! ❤️

Today, Saint Theresa Catholic School celebrated Duchenne Awareness Day, and our Griffins were challenged to “Rock the Red for Milo” as we came together to raise awareness, show our support, and pray for a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

A special thank you to the Koh Family for coordinating today’s activities and to the Sugar Land Police Department and Sugar Land Fire Department for joining us and providing special presentations for our students.

We are grateful for the opportunity to stand together as a community in support of Milo and all those impacted by Duchenne. ❤️

Ora et Labora — Pray and Work

This Labor Day, we give thanks for the dignity of human work and the opportunity it gives us to cultivate virtue, serve our neighbor, and glorify God.

May the work of our hands always be ordered toward the True, the Good, and the Beautiful.

Wishing our Saint Theresa families a blessed and restful Labor Day! 🇺🇸

Forming Hearts & Minds | Fides et Ratio

This past week, we were blessed to host our inaugural Fides et Ratio Parent Formation Evening at Saint Theresa Catholic School!

We were honored to welcome Archbishop J. Michael Miller, Dr. Martin Lockerd, and Dr. Roland Millare as our guest panelists for a rich conversation about what makes a school truly Catholic and what makes an education truly classical.

Throughout the evening, we were reminded that “parents are the first evangelizers” of their children and that Catholic education is one of the “most powerful ministries of the Church.” We were also challenged to remember that our Catholic classical schools should “cultivate wonder and develop the imagination”—forming not only strong students, but young people who seek what is true, good, and beautiful.

We are incredibly grateful to our panelists and to the parents and community members who joined us for this special evening. This is only the beginning of our parent formation series, and we look forward to continuing these important conversations as we grow together in faith and reason—Fides et Ratio. 💙💛

Today, we held our very first Coffee with the Head of School, and it was a wonderful opportunity for our families to connect with Dr. Serna, ask questions, share ideas, and simply enjoy time together.

Building strong relationships between our families and school leadership is such an important part of strengthening our STCS community. We are grateful to everyone who joined us this morning and look forward to many more opportunities to gather, listen, and grow together.

Today was our first noon dismissal of the school year, and our faculty and staff spent the afternoon focused on something incredibly important—the safety and well-being of our students. 💙💛

A special thank you to Officer Ken for leading a great workshop on bullying prevention and sharing practical strategies for helping us continue to build positive, respectful relationships throughout our school community.

We also conducted our first lockdown drill and introduced our faculty to the I Love U Guys Standard Response Protocol (SRP). This nationally recognized approach gives our school common language and clear procedures to follow during different safety situations, helping ensure that we are prepared and working together.

Keeping our Griffins safe, cared for, and surrounded by a community rooted in respect and love will always be a priority. 💙💛

We are off to a wonderful start to the school year!

Our Curriculum Nights give families an opportunity to take a deeper look at the academic experience at Saint Theresa Catholic School. Across three evenings, we focus on PreKindergarten–2nd Grade, 3rd–5th Grade, and 6th–8th Grade.

Parents hear directly from teachers about the curriculum, classroom expectations, and learning goals for the year, along with important school-wide updates and policies from our Head of School. It is a wonderful opportunity for our families to learn, connect, and begin the year together!
